Democracy always "interested" me. It doesn't have to be a Russian puppet government, just one that is not insane enough to use force in order to get what it wants. They should have good relations with Russia yes and admit to their wrongs, perhaps then they would get "their" South Ossetia back (with no people in it, as they all move to Russia) along with a new relationship with Russia.
