As a loyal fan of TW series, I must say that I am very disappointed... actually pretty freaking pissed. I have been playing for about two weeks as france, and when I was about to conquer India, I get CTD and I can not seem to work around it like other people seem able to. (around 1735)

so I started my 2nd campaing as Sweden and built it nicely into 1740s... and I get CTDs.

It is not memory leak issue related.... I just get CTD between the turns.. (AI turn).

Is it just me or everyone? any suggestion what I have to do... to work around it????

I actually just experienced this for the first time a week ago with my Great Britain campaign. Everything's running okay, and then I get to year 1733 and now I can't get past the next turn's AI moves without the damn thing crashing to desktop. Seems I can't get past a certain time without crashing as I'm sure when I get there with Prussia again I'll be doomed. So frustrating.

There are some changes you can make to your memory if you are running on windows XP and have certain hardware specifications. Namely Ram over 2GB and Video Card over 512

Is it a memory problem though when it only crops up late in games and isn't an issue for many years early on? You'd figure it would more random if that were the case, just happening whenever since it wouldn't be game-side. Not the case here.

Its an issue when the PC has to calculate movement points for specific units at various times during the factions turn.

You notice the same effect when you are at your turn and clicking on certain units as well. Usually it happens on Naval units, but at times it can happen on agents and full stacks of mixed units.

Has to do with memory addressing and how much the game is attempting to utilize. Most of them were fixed in the most recent patch, although some lingering ones still exist on certain hardware platforms and setups.

I am on vista 32... and used to have the "memory low leak.. or whatever" , but applied the fix and was running fine~~ before I had the CTD.

I feel your pains, I get CTD's with my first dutch campaign, the road to independence (the final turn before victory), my Maratha campaign, and my second dutch campaign (I almost had all of europe, just 2 more freaking OE city's!)

Belive me i feel for you man. As Prussia, i had controlled all of the German territories in Europe plus has taken ceylon which i used to control all of india. Then of course i click on a unit of cannons on the campign map and it CTDS.....i hate CA....

Exact same. As france too haha. Just spent like 2 hours giving alot my units historical names (after revolution that is). Couple more turns..then I get CTD on comps turn. Cant fix it.

So I refuse to play until next patch. Or until this is fixed. Couldnt be more annoyed, and couldnt want to play this game more. Sigh

Well I get a CTD when I click "Grand Campaign", so I can't start any new campaigns.

I dont understand your complains. the CTD happens only when a very seldom event occurs that triggers the fatal error.

there are auto-saves and your ongoing Save game. if your current savegame file got corrupted with CTDs, just load from your last auto-save and rewrite your main save game file. then there should be no problem...

Wait, are you lambasting people for complaining about a faulty product which your solution does nothing to remedy? Congrats, you just told us (which I'd assume we all rightly know) that we can reload the effed up game just so it can crash again... and again... and again... re-upping the same save fixes nothing, it merely sets you up to be more frustrated. The issue is not the deletion of said save games (although I'm sure folks have experienced that too) but rather the inability to progress due to CTDs. Thought that was pretty self-evident.

i got it on my 2nd turn as Great Britain no big loss but then it happened again 1822 as france no big loss i conquered pretty much europe and the americas. but i uninstalled it because the game crashed for good, no big loss.

How about...
if you get that constant CTD, with no apparent way around it, you post that save game here in the forums and let somebody else try to advance the game one turn and then post it back?

Doesn't work.

I own two copies (one for me- one for my 12 year old son) and tried to do the save on two PCS to test it. Result- Same CTD.

Its not the PCs, both which are over the minimun spec. Its the game, its massively buggy.

Hi all,

I get same massivley frustrating problems.

I played a really long campaign as Prussia and created Germany plus Scandinavia and West Poland/Austria. Reached 1775.

decided with my superb armies to free Europe from the Turks (Ottomans). However, CTD when you try to declare war. All the time, regardless of which save I load or playing another turn etc.

So I start a new Campaign, do realy well as France.

Low and behold- CTD around 1755 when you try to take Trinadad and Tobago. Again, regardless of save and options. Always CTD.

So give it a last try, go Sweden . Conquer Scandinavia, Prussia etc.

Try to go past turn 1760- CTD

So frustrating.

when i had it i liked custom battles more. and to begz i borrowed the game from a friend then i uninstalled it after i gave it back.
