Map Expansion

In the second mission of the Road To Independence Campaign the map does not expand after capturing Louisburg or whatever it is. The objectives are to capture the french strongholds of Quebee and Montreal. I'm using Nvidia 8800GT, 4GB of RAM. At the mission completion screen if I don't Cick on the tick then the map does not expand . Please tell me how to access the messages after they disappear from the game screen.

When I completed the Road To Independence Campaign I was under the delusion that the American faction would then be available to play in the main campaign. It didn't - I guess it would have messed up the British campaign if it had....

The only way to get back to that point in the game is to reload a save. Did you make any of them during the game?

I wonder if you only get them as a faction in the Americas (Road to Independence) campaign?

I just checked (an 'Episode IV' United States appears):

When looking at what Britain gets they lose the 13 Colonies but gain bits in India:
