Amsterdam 1753 - My largest battle so far

The Prussians have just completed the conquest of south-western Europe, bringing both Spain and France under the control of the young German Republic.

Exploiting the military access granted by the minor German nations, three Line Divisions and a Cavalry Division of the Prussian Army (1 Div. = 1 full stack) moved past the left flank of the United Provinces defensive deployment, joined with the newly formed Guard Division coming from Berlin and thrusted directly for the Netherland capital... the ensuing battle was the largest engagement yet to be seen on the European soil.

It is just the vanilla... for now !

So far I just played as the United Provinces and, now, as Prussia, and I have a tendency to ignore supposed objectives and go my own pace... so I always officially loose the campain - and conquer the world (maybe by 2014 or something, LOL!), but who cares ?!

Thats what I was thinking, is there a computer that can handle a battle like that? Must be with that new shiny roadrunner processor... or something.

Theres no way you could actually play this without huge lags, it was done with auto calc huh?

Actually, you can. 20 max units per side at any given time. New units do not pop up until a routing unit leaves the field of battle. The only bad side to a battle this size, which I have fought, is if your defending and kill/rout many of there units, then your units will run out of ammo and die in melee and then your reinforcements will come all scattered, then the battle is fubar.

Yep!
Main reason is I don't like the way reinforcements are handled in ETW.
The best solution in the TW serie was, IMO, that from MTW2-Kingdoms, that is allowing You to actually bring more than one army in a battle and (partially) control them (oh my 4 bizantine armies in the crusade campain, and all cavalry! - that was charging!!!)... but I don't think this would be possible in ETW.
Reasons: 1) the battlefield is too small (though 2vs2 is viable), 2) controlling the secondary armies the way K. did does not allow for the "finesse" the era requires.
Aside from this, it is very disappointing when You manouvre on the campaign map and, no matter how You prepared the engagement, the enemy keeps popping up to Your hind-side!
BTW, is it this that You are referring to as "reinforcement bugs" or something else?

PPS, anyone interested in the campaign file?

Not to mention the enemy coming from all directions... When the game was playable for me I'd always auto calc the battles with multiple stacks, which is a shame.... the most epic battles are wrecked.

Yep! It is a shame, a battle like this handled the way Kingdoms did (or fully controlled)... that would be epic!
But then the minimum hardware requirements for ETW would have been for 3 Teslas in our PC...

That`s sad because it would`ve been a great battle if reinforcements actually worked right. It would`ve been a nightmare trying to work out who was coming from where just to have the enemy pop up behind you again and again.

It`s really unacceptable and CA really need to fix reinforcements.
