    Default Macedonia on steroids

After 60 turns in my slowpaced M/M campaign I have a look to the east of my now pretty small roman republic and I find out Macedonia have vanquished Greece, Illyria, large parts of Scythia and a few of the northern gaul settlements. This makes me sad as I will now never get to fight the greeks (after I drove them out of Italy) or the Illyrians. Is there any way to stop this madness in another campaign?

    Funny you should mention this...

Let's just say that problem doesn't exist in the ExRM. In fact, in the current version, Macedon repeatedly gets destroyed. (We're working on that...should be fixed in the next version). Even in the previous version, though, Macedon is still respectably nerfed.) I'm not going to claim our empire balancing is perfect (see the Ptolemaic Empire), but we've made a lot of improvements.

Hehe, I guess I had a streak of REALLY bad luck then... I'd rather fight greece and Illyria instead of macedon though, much more fun to fight things other then the allmighty phalanx.

Sorry for doubleposting. Turns out I can't play on with that campaign anyway get a CTD everytime I press end turn now and all saves are at the same turn so there's no way to get away with loading another game Guess I'll have to save more different saves now then

Yeh that happens quite a lot. One or two of the factions go on the rampage. It happans more often with macedon because the agean area has lots of cities and generates a lot of money very quickly. Funnily enough I'm playing as macedonia now and it's Illyria and the bactrians who are on the rampage, the bactrians are up to Armenia ffs. It's also down to AI, the computer treats every war as a war of annihilation, so when it starts a war with another faction it generally doesn't stop until that faction is completely destroyed.

Normally I just do a bit of force diplomacy to tell said faction to give me all the cities they should'nt have and give them back to their original owners, you normally have to offer/demand something like 100 denarii in exchange. You can also try upping the unit costs and upkeep of the factions units and adjusting their aggression towards other factions in the desrc_strat files.
