terrible research bug

ok i'm playing as prussia and the year is 1703 and i have researched plug bayonets and square formation. I started the research of carbines but now when i open the research window, it shows 0 turns to research carbines. I thought this would be researched the next turn so i end turn but its still not researched. then i end turn and still not researched
then i thought theres something fishy going around, i tried researching something new, it tells me 0 rounds and it will keep on like this forever. this means i cant research anything

I have had a CTD (thankfully the only one I've experienced) by clicking on a '0' Research Field and trying to change it to something else. It doesn't like that at all!
