    Default Campaign balance report

After years of trial and error, ideas and complaints, and much experimentation XGM seems quite balanced with both human and ai expansion. Here is my current Roman campaign. Pontus, Armenia, Bactria and Saba are still in the game and doing quite well. Scythia no longer runs rampant on the map. It stays in the steppes but is not over run by other factions. The barbs constanly fight eachother and balance themselves out so you never see a super barb faction and each one lasts for a long while in the game. Battles are well balanced, as close to historical acuracy as the engine will allow, and fun.

Great job DimeBagHo and all who have helped and contributed to this great mod.

I see Germania in your campaign also likes Nordic expansion . The one in my GCS campaign took all of the ultra high provinces, and then all of their southern ones were taken by the Romans, so the only part of Germania left was in the Scandinavian regions haha.

Out of curiosity, how many campaigns have you played, and how far in, on XGM? My GCS one was around 70 turns in I think, and my first Rome one was 150 or so, but then Scythia took over the world unfortunately. They seem to have their invasions quite late.

I've playing this mod since a very early version of XGM 3. I can't tell you how many campaigns I've played and completed.

As for Scythian expansion, I don't think we'll be seeing an orange Atilla wanabe anymore.... or I hope not.

Seems like Dime did a good job of nerfing them without making them too weak as too make for weird German/Armenian expansion. Keep us updated if you feel like it.

Oh I will. This is the best XGM Roman campaign I've had in a long while. My expansion is somewhat along historic guidelines. I finished the first Punic War by conquoring Sicily and the islands west of Italy. Then the Guals invaded and I took the lower Alps regions. And now the Indie greeks are trying to bully me and the own the Adriatic shores of Greece. So it looks like the Illyrian and Dalmatian Wars are about to break out before a second Punic War. This has been quite fun so far.

Yeah I use RedFox addons. It makes the game that much better. Especially the music.

What are the 'RedFox add-ons'? Do you mean DTW?

A few months ago Dime made a seperate download to add RedFox's battle/strat map textures and music to the game. I think if you check the readme you'll find a link to it.

Yeah, I remember using the RedFox textures once and finding the campaign map ones vastly improved. Can't remember the music though, didn't play long enough to hear it I guess.

Nice sig, dirty_M. Is it about an RTW mod? I've never seen one with Macedonians or Greeks with face armor like that.

Speaking of campaign map improvements, does anyone know how I might go about finding the water textures used in a mod? They're one of the most visible parts of the campaign map, and I wanted to fiddle around with it to see if I can't get that water looking a little less opaque

arrrgghh... goodness I have to think on this.

    k, I run alex
ai bonus on... but i think i'll turn it off when i update later just to slow down the campaign. Maybe even go a bit more drastic with moding growth and what not just so the marian reforms don't happen in the second century. Or maybe do what RedFox did and convert the reforms to Polybian.
    RedFox addons...obviously
    no redline
    Prometheus cities
    Landbridges on
battel and campagin are normally m/h but I'll experiment with others later
    I can't remember the rest

I think Rise of the Nations is an RTW mod being made by haressiarch (I can't spell his name btw), although I could be wrong. Looks fairly promising.

    Here's my current campaign.

The barbarians seem pretty balanced, although Gaul is getting pincered by Iberia and Germany. Even Baktria has a pretty strong presence. TSE got curb-stomped though, as you can see.

Looks like you've got a long but fun campaign still to go krasni, which faction are you though? The Greeks?

I'll try to take a screen shot of my latest thracian campaign with version .21 m/m 1hp. with lowered missile attack by me, bonuses off. Actually Armenia and Germania almost took Scythia and now there are 2-3 orange provinces. seleucids did remember their old grey wave days and destroyed Bactria and EK in the east
