Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
I can fight land battles fine tx
I can usually win without losing more than 50 men so strategies do work. I was wondering if someone 'cracked the safe' - came up with something to win every battle against the AI
Also I would love if someone found a way to win imaginatively - like break through the middle or charge in five columns from all around

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
Well, the easiest way to beat the AI every single time- and with no casualties- is to get 20 mortars with percussion shells. But that's kind of cheating.

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
oh sweet - i'll try that.
that would be crazy lol but battles of napoleonic era usually decided by coordinated maneuvers before the battle and there was a lot of maneuvering in battle to get the position
i just want to find a way to smoothly #and without casualties# take the enemy apart given standard armies

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
Consider this: Napoleon had been planning a campaign in Italy and he spent days over maps so big they filled up the rooms, so anyway he spent days planning #everything# and then he said he would defeat the enemy at city M-something. and then a few months later - he did!
Empire TW - has no effect of maneuvers and it kind of sucks

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
Apparently the game's AI could use some improvement to say the least. Basically its plan is simple almost simplistic:
1. Target Artillery, suicidal charge with cavalry.
2. Move cavalry all the way around the player's army and try to flank.
3. Target the player's General ad infinitum.
4. Target most experienced units ad nauseum.
In short, it's not coded to act as an 18th Century army but it's filled with 'gamey' routines. Not forgetting it's 'ability' to read the player's clicks and 'react' accordingly...

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
You won't win with zero casualties with a standard army unless you exploit a bug.

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
yea you isare alright youguys!
i guess some it turned out pretty boring in the end - just flank them with cavalry and get them in the back...
i wish it was more unbalanced

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
Recruit smaller armies.
Pick more fights at once.

Re: The PERFECT STRATEGY
Unlike archers in previous games (where I end up slaughtering them like crazy with archers + heavy cav) you just cant do that in ETW. I win by having high XP line infantry in a long straight line with a unit or two covering the flanks on each side, heavy cav outside of those (2-3 groups each side) then 2-3 pieces of artillery and general + aux units.
The AI nearly always will try and flank with 1 cav unit, use your better heavy cav to slaughter them, then they engage my central line where my troops are always higher XP, fold in the flanks as per how they attack and flank with cav (leaving 1 or 2 from the side their artillery is on to take those units out).
Target general with artillery from the start, then line inf after that.
