Default Mysterious secrets of that little watch

Ever wondered about what other functions does that little watch for edning turns have? It always looked mysterious to me and I have just found out why!

I started the campaign as Prussia and decided to go republic at once. So I provoked revolution at 1701 and won. Then I hit the end turn watch and the screen start flicking while the factions were taking their turns. Something's wrong I thought....

And then my turn again. But the date said 1947 and it was no mistake, Prussia was no more and I was in command of Germany with it's today's flag!

    Here's the proof:

It would have been better if it went to 1945 instead, you would end the turn to find 10 full stacks of Russian soldiers next to your capital and another 10 stacks of American,British,French and Polish troops on your western border. Now that would have been very interesting...
    Nice find though

I clicked it and ended up at San Demus high with Abe Lincoln, Socrates, Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Beethoven, Billy the Kid, Ghengis Khan and two bodacious English Princess babes. Non, non non Heinous !!!

    1947
Looks more like 1918 to me. As mentioned above, too few enemy armies in your territory.
Yes, that's the date that flag became official the first time.

Dumb question: Does it really work to get a revolution by 1701 (without putting yourself at an extreme disadvantage)?

    Revolution in 1701 is easy.

Simply on turn one destroy all order related buildings in capital (and region as well: churches etc.), go with armies far from the capital (possibly to other region), raise taxes for lower class to max and click end turn for three times. Republicans will spawn and since capital has no garrisson you just walk in and becomes republic.

Disadvantage is not that big as it might seem and since republic has huge advantages over other forms of government (economy and research) I believe it's worth it do it immidiately.

As for the Germany prank. I wondered what the flag for Prussian republic is. When it turned out it's modern german flag (first used after WW2 and in no way Prussian at all) and not the old Prussian tricolour (black, red, white) I was like WTF and got the idea to commit this. Apparently most of you enjoyed it, which I am glad of :-)

PS. Hopefuly some modders will be able to alter this to above mentioned Prussian colours as it's really ridiculous both to use this flag in 18th century and for Prussia...

I did the same thing. Now, my elite rebels will go and destroy the Prussians.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Those are Dahomey Amazons, if you aren't familiar with them. No, I do not own the SF edition of the game.

EDIT: This is right after. Someone's been sending me a lot of email.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Do I need to post a screenie of the same thing he has, now?

EDIT 2: And finally, I moved on Saxony with my Amazonian rebels. They spoke in an odd accent - I couldn't place it exactly, but it sounded like Prussian Male.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

EDIT 4: Just remember the 1947 thing, it didn't seem to happen to mine. I did not purposely obscure the bottom half in the 2nd screenie, it just happened.

The flag is correct I think, since it was used not only after WWII but also by the republic of Weimar after WWI, following a revolution. And for practical purposes Prussia unified Germany so it is also justified.

which still doesn't explain why it was being used in the 1700s

They chose the modern German tricolour because it was also used as the rebel flag during the Revolution in 1848. I can't recall any major revolutions during the 18th century for Germany so I guess CA just reached for something close that people recognize.
