End Game Disappointment

Hi All,

Just finished the game by conquering the whole world - didn't stop at the short or long victory and once I was done with the Americas I moved through Europe and then onto India.

I thought you get a message, video or some form of notification in the other TW games when you wipe everyone else out?

There was nothing to signify the end - I could just keep clicking next turn with no opposition. I don't want the short or long victory - I want the whole world so reward me when I get it !

Anyone else come across this ? I heard the end video isn't great anyway but at least signify the fact that someone put so much time into your game - am I alone on this one ?

the victory conditions force you to play until your designated ending point ('50 or '99) in order to see the end video

not really...you could lose a required territory after capturing your objectives. Only problem is...with the current state of the AI...this prolly won't happen.

The fact is, once you get 20-25 years into your campaign, you become a unrivalled powerhouse with no equal or any enemy with a good enough AI to even attempt to resist you. I haven't bothered wasting my time on a campaign further than 1734. Currently playing RTW EB.

I was realy dissapointed with this
I finished my long campaign in the year 1760 and I had to wait untill 1799 to win and get the achievment which is retarded,I couldnt even be bothered finishing it

You guys aren't still playing vanilla E:TW i hope? :o played 1 Vanilla campaign properly, took over india in like 9 years and thought, cba to wait the remaining 90years for whatever the video might be to tell me (finally) that i've won the game, am playing Balance of Power atm

Anyway my point is taking over the world on Vanilla isnt even worth a proper ending cos it's really too easy to be classed as an achievement to any meaningful degree anyway

Sadly yes...I badly want to play Darthmod but for some reason I cant get it to work

Victory is no victory in ETW as it is at present. You cannot lose. So it`s fair that there`s no confirmation when you take over the whole world. Empires is pathetic as far as any kind of sense of real victory is concerned. It needs Patching so the AI is more aggressive and can do some naval Invasions.

I played CIV4 yesterday and got well and truly beaten by the Civs (partly because that Egyptain woman betrayed me at the last minute). As nuclear weapons rained down upon my cities, I thought, `The day I beat every Civ and rule the world then THAT will be a victory!

Hatty betrayed you? Unexpected, she's not your typical warmonger.

But yes Civ victories are satisfying in a way that ETW cannot match.

I returned on M2TW Stainless Steel while waiting for Third Age Total War. I Will be back on Empire when there will be more mods and when CA will fix the famous 'naval invasion' bug.

Yea, I was doing really well with her for ages, but in the modern era we seemed to be the only 2 against everyone else. She asked for an Alliance. A couple of turns later, the whole world declared war on me and Hat (whatever her name is). I don`t know if she caused war or whether it was they.

Anyway, she was raining nukes on them, I never had nukes (was close but not ready) and was pretty glad she was on my side. But the Sumerians and Zulus battering me between them. I lost several cities. It looked like I was finished so I called Hat and gave her 10000 cash before I went under. The game actually froze for a second with her on it while it digested the massive amount I`d given her, lol. It was like she was shocked.

Anyway, next turn she made peace with everyone, declared war on me, leaving me in the lurch and everyone plus their granny rained nukes on me. With a sigh, I just sat back and had a beer while nuke after nuke shook my screen all over the place.

That`s the last time I give anyone 10000 cash!
