    Default graphics card. ram....etc

i don't understand the ram thing.. is it single cards with a single amount of ram on it? orr.. is it multiple cards with various amounts of memory on it i.e 512 mb and 1 gb add together to get 1.5 gb?

    also...

i have a dell inspiron 530... it says the expansion slot is a PCIe x16(graphics)

( i have no clue what that means)

but.. i would like to upgrade to a NVIDIA Geforce 9 GT 1GB PCI Express Video Graphics Card.. which also means i would have to buy a power supply correct? what i want to know is if i buy the graphics card, can i even install it into that expansion slot.. if so.. how big of a power supply would i need to buy?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with your first question, but I think I got it. You have 1 GB of ram, so it's probably 2 sticks of 512mb of ram. I think that's what you're trying to get at right? And you probably should go ahead and upgrade to 2 GBs of ram. Ram is dirt cheap nowadays. A good set of 2 sticks of 1 GB of ram should cost you no more than $30.

The PCIe x16 slot is fine.

As for the graphics card, it depends what kind of 9 series card you want. I would get a 9800 GT, which requires 450-500w. The card should list the required amount of power for it.

If anyone wants a hardcore gaming computer, I would recomend either the NRG Storm or the Dell XPS 730x Desktop. Jack up the Dell with dual Nvidia 280 GTX 817mb graphics cards. If either of these computers doesn't play every game on high definition with no lag for the next 5 years... this is a scam lol
