Has anyone read it or watched it? I watched it some time back, and I just read the book. Both were awesome man. The book was a comtemporary film noir tragedy, really made you sympathise with the main character montgomery brogan even though he had committed crimes. Each of the book's characters were really well written. Its an easy read too, none of that pretentious high society language used. Its simple, down to earth, gritty.

The movie was just as awesome. Spike Lee did a great job adapting it to film. Edward Norton stole the show. Man, Edward Norton is such a great actor (primal fear, american history x, incredible hulk), I ought to create a thread just for his awesomeness.

The other actors (Barry Pepper, Brian Cox etc...) weren't bad, they were quite good. But Edward just stole the show. I thought Barry Pepper didn't look his role though, thought slattery should look bigger and rougher, same with philip seymour hoffman. Thoguht Jakob Elinsky should look younger, like in his late twenties instead of some middle aged guy.

Heres one of the best scenes from the movie.

You gotta be above 18 to watch this. Lots of swearing.

This monologue was also in the book, but Spike Lee changed a few words and lines here and there.

I liked that movie allot. It spoke volumes to me back then, although the movie did not do so well with the critics and box-office.

I kinda like Spike Lee's style. Norton is a bit less in this one though IMO.
