crash help..

ever since i ran the modmanager thing and it failed, i uninstalled etw then reinstalled it, and now i can not even run it, everytime i try to run ETW it will go to the loading screen and then crash me back to the desktop, i cant copy and paste the entire error but it has to do with this file, so if anyone can help me itd be greatly appreciated, also the numbers on that appcompat.txt file change every time i load the game, so its something...

C:\DOCUME~1\TK-PHAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\4d15_appcompat.txt

Check your user.empire_script.txt file (found in your C:\...\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts directory [in xp]). Is there anything in that file?

yea there's the preferences txt file and the user.empire_script txt file

If you aren't using mods this time (and have removed them from your data folder) the game will crash when it looks at the user.empire_script.txt file (if it still has mod names in there).

The preferences file is for your in game settings. Thats fine.

So open user.empire_script.txt and make sure that it is empty if you are trying to start a vanilla game without mods.

so i erase everything that is in the preferences empire script txt file? no wonder ETW started working when i deleted the scripts folder...

No! Only delete the info (should be just a list of the mods you tried to use previously) found in user.empire_script.txt.

The preferences file is just for things like gfx settings and options that are from the in game menu. I suppose if you deleted it the game would just recreate it with the default values, but I wouldn't try it.
