    Default Worth it?

So Ive been busy with pre deployment workups is this game a worthy purchase? I am in the process of getting my desktop computer out to Camp Lejeune but for the moment I am computer less and was thinking about setting aside the fifty for the game. Ive read there are quite a few bugs do they ruin the gameplay that much?

A good lot have been fixed and the mods out there and in progress really make up for the game and go way beyond my expectations of the vanilla game.

Some crashing has been fixed, but basically all the gameplay arguments people have are there still. Alot of it you may not notice, some might not even bother you, as there are two camps on many of the issues.

Left 4 Dead can be a hoot, if your trying to pass the time. Good luck in Afghanistan friend, I'm going to read your mass effect review now.

I would personally wait awhile. The A.I is badly broken and will probably take more than just one patch to fix. Mods do improve the game somewhat, but cannot fix what is broken.

Focus on work-ups, and when you get back stateside the game will be hammered into something playable, or modded to that effect. Right now it is not even worth playing a campaign because the game is missing some major features, and stability problems.

Wait until you see what everyone thinks of the big Patch that will be out hopefully in a week.

I concur. Some high end systems have problems playing the game and on top of that, many features are not working properly. Wait for the patch and see how many complain that the patch made their game better/worse.

I like it. The price is unlikely to go down in the next few months or so, might as well get it now. If you enjoy it, cool, if not, put it away until they fix the bugs you don't like.

Yes, exactly. Personally, I think that Empire:Total War is definitely worth the purchase.. (despite some glaring bugs/glitches and AI quirks)

You'll have to ultimately gauge your interest in the genre. Me, I'm a nerd for history and, in the end, these kinds of games fulfill that fantasy, so I can easily put up with the issues. The occasional CTD, graphical slow-down, sound mishap... whatever, its all swept under the rug when I can have that really money battle on the eastern Georgian border for new world supremacy with an out-manned Cherokee Nation force. I mean, I get into it, so it would take a lot (a lot) for me to hate this game, and as it is, I'm not even close, even with the minor frustrations. Patches only serve to make it better.

That said, I don't know if I could cope with vanilla after having played darthmod for so long, so take that into consideration. And I pretty much play with everything on low level, and it doesn't make that big of an impact. Heh.

I too read histories voraciously, that is the reason I have so many problems with it. Naval landings, or the lack of them make India and the Americas a gimmick, yet they were the foundation of wealth for many countries.

They are the users playground only, and I cant play like that/

If I could do it all over again I would save my $$$. This game is a mess and even after you lose your money you also lose a whole bunch of time dealing with the mess.

But I do admit it is amazing for eye candy, especially ship battles.

Youll have to make this decision on your own...

it's really cool for a couple days but that's about it. it doesnt have the staying power of the other games. it has too many problems right now. you should wait.

If you like CA Yeh I would definately wait for the "big fix" patch to be released before buying it - That way there wont be chance of yourself getting to the stage that when you say, CA = No way
It is a great game -if you have waited this long - it wont hurt to wait another month and the price would have come down by then

Well I probably will get it Medieval 2 had a bunch of problems too and I know if a TW game is broken modders will fix it and make it better eventually. How are the naval battles, the gamespot review said they were gorgeous but not challenging, I wonder if that could be fixed also.
