    Default Eburonum

I'm sure this question has been asked before and I've always wondered this. What is the point of having eleutheouri charcters like diazenis around? You kill him he comes back, you kill him he comes back, hes like jason on freddy kouger and the only way to stop him seems to be to bribe him and quickly take eburonum before a clone of diazenis apperas. LOL in my game he is like agent smith making copies of himslef every couple of turns. there are three diazenis now in my game all guardering Eburonum. I've only captured eburonum once as the romans and have always failed as the germans or getai. Iv'e turned of tow in the console and see serveral baltic territories also guarded by fifteen star generals with full stacks of legendary expierienced war fighters. My question is what is the point in having these invincible characters? to screw with the AI who try every turn to take a impossible territory. I'm playing as Rome and have gual in my hands. I've expanded into bagacos and vesontio that was taken by the germans. anyway they refuse to face me head on (Which they were doing 30 turns earlier germans got as far south as to seige mediolanum) and now they send three full stacks to fight diazenis instead of me. I've started a campaign as sweboz and realize eburonum is in thier campaign goals. I just want one of the EB creators to explain to me why Diazenis was put in and why Eburonum is a requirement to all factions in the area to conquer.

To prevent Out-of-Control AI expansion into certain areas too early, I think.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

thats what i figured but I don't think any ai army can overcome diazenis or rhesus or sautes at any point in the game. Its basically like theres a Boii buffer state between the germans, Getai and saurmate who hold all 3 factions at bay. i think by now in my game though most of the baltic should be in german hands. to overcome diazenis I used force diplomacy with the germans and allied and sent two legions from segestica to help the invasion of eburonum. I let the germans finally capture it, ended the alliance pulled the two full stacks out of eburonum and diazenis reappered ambushing me from the rear. I killed him, and one stack barely had 200 men left out of a 1200. I got my men out of there the next turn but then... You guessed it! next turn diazenis reappeears... that's seven times he's been killed. eburonum rebels against the germans and diazenis annihilates the german occupants leaving only a few spearmen and cheursci swordsmen alive.

And now were back to square one.

I've seen the Romans do it (in Sweboz and Casse games), probably due to sheer numbers, and I've also never seen a Defender spawn more than 3 times - spawn, killed the first time (respawn), killed a second time (respawn), and then a few places have another general with the same (or a different) name, but different army make-up and not as strong. I've also never seen them respawn if you take the region they're defending.

Well maybe somethings wrong with my game then because its been more than four times that diazenis has been killed and has reappeared... only to rape me and the germans/getai. He has a specail trait that says (Defender of Eburonum) and he slows to a crawl if he goes outside the province of eburonum. He reappered too when the germans had a hard time keeping squalor down in Eburonum. He really loves his country

Those rebels also represent strong factions that were left out of EB because of the faction limit.

The AI takes the rebel settlements quite easy. In my Romani campaign I had to repell the Sweboz, because they had taken all the Alpine settlements and were pouring full stacks into Italy.

The only Rebel cities left now are Eburonum and 2 Baltic regions.

He also hates romans and carthaginians. (Not sure why he is nowhere close to either.). he reappeared too when the germans had eburonum and couldn't keep the squalor down. He really loves his country

Too bad he wasn't french in world war 2 the germans would have abandoned france after two turns

is there a way i could mod the script to where he appears only once ever?

Deleting the part about the defenders in the script... Or the part for the defender in question... (Make sure to make a back-up copy of the script first though.)

That way only the initial defenders will be there. Once they're beaten, they will be gone for ever.

Next to that, I think that all of these characters will be killed permamently after a certain year by the script.

In the latest version of EB, those scripted generals should have a couple year delay before they respawn. Once you defeat them, you just have to conquer the town they were defending in the next few turns and you'll never see them again.

lol. I've noticed the exact same problem with another town. I think it might have been Carrodunum.

Wtf, this is happening to me with Diazemis? and Diazenis? or whatever their names are. They've pretty much halted my expansion, guess I shouldn't have played as the Sweboz.

The Sweboz are surrounded by unbeatable, re-spawning, ten star generals with full stacks. I foolishly sent two full stacks into that province where the modern Baltic States/Finland are, I think. I besieged the city with one, attacked Diazemis with the other. I defeated/killed Diazemis and queued up a siege ram with the other besieging stack, then ended the season. During the Eleuthroi turn two nearly full Eleuthroi stacks spawned and attacked my besieging army, I managed to hold them off somehow, they were reinforced by the garrison from the besieged town. The besieged seven star governor was killed during the second battle. Another Diazemis also then re-spawned with his ten stars and full stack. Somehow, a new seven star governor respawned as well, and the garrison once again became a 1/2 full stack. I tried to combine what was left of my armies and limp away but I didn't make it, Diazemis 2 attacked, destroyed my army, and killed my family member.

Is this historically accurate? Should a small Baltic province be the toughest to take in the game? Did those ancient Baltic peoples have a limitless supply of warriors and legendary commanders all named Diazemis?

I should have sent my two stacks to attack Rome. It would have been easier.

As the Sweboz, I've only met with psycho-stacks when attacking south. Going East to the Baltic and Russian territories I've never seen any large Eleutheroi groups.

Its happening to me both East and South. I'm just going to hit add_money 40000 until I can adopt Diazemis 2 to replace my dead family member. I dont like to cheat but it'll make up for the respawning problem. I'll be sure to take the city before he can respawn again. Wish I'd have seen this thread before I ventured into that region of death.
