Ok, thanks for the effort, I'll wait on the Uhlans.
Besides, they only really came in to fashion during Napoleonic times, and always in small numbers. Frederick the Great experimented with Uhlans, but dropped them and kept to Dragoons, Hussars and Cuirassiers.

No, I'm the creator of this:

I love the mod for no backpacks and boxes especially but one slight problem..
THe skirmishers would have had backpacks wouldn't they, is there a unit specific way to do it?
Yea, and militia-type infantry and cossack infantry should have backpacks, it doesn't look right without anything on their back a standard-issue ammo box instead...
Light infantry were probalbly also used as recce in addition to screening/ambush/sniping, so it would be more logical if they backpacks so they could carry their sleeping bags and other various belongings along with them.

I think his problem may be that it has to a be a whole spread of no backpacks or everyone has backpacks.
That's precisely the problem. I'd like to offer people the option. I've tried several times to give backpacks to just light infantry, but I haven't been able to do it without losing ammoboxes for line troops.
However, I'm not pursuaded there's historical evidence for soldiers regularly running around the battlefield with backpacks on, be they light infantry or not. I'm open to evidence that demonstrates otherwise, but I can't imagine many men would want to be fighting for their lives with 30 pounds of dead weight strapped to their backs unless they had no other choice. But, as I said, if you have proof to the contrary, I'd be interested to learn of it.
One option is to give light infantry the cavalry equipment, which includes the smaller hip bag.
