On one of my campaigns (Ottoman) all my generals/rakes/other agents die at age 40! This is really disruptive and I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this bug and if there is a workaround.

Never heard on that bug before. Normally, characters in this game live to age 65+.

My best general is 78 and judging by the way he still manages to tear through inafntry ranks he's got a few years left yet
I assume all these deaths are from natural causes?

Did they all die at EXACTLY age 40?If it's around or before age 40, I'm wondering if you have a mod for 4 turns per year, in which case you may be facing a double age-phenomenon.

Back on topic though, I have never seen that bug before, maybe all your guys just decided not to lives anymore after 40. My people generally live very long.
