    Default Chevrons

What do experience chevrons do in this game? They don't seem to alter any stat. Also what is the hierarchy? I have seen a unit with 4 bronze chevrons but nothing beyond that and never any silver chevrons.

They affect accuracy, reload time, melee damage, melee defense, and morale.

But the stat bonuses don't show up on the campaign map. Right click the unit on the battle map and you'll see the real stats.

It doesn't go to silver, once you get 4 chevrons it starts replacing chevrons with stars, I believe 1 star for every 2 chevrons, but I'm not sure.

Do a custom battle, you can see what they look like on the troop selection screen, and can see the effect they have in the battle itself.

The stat upgrades for experience are only shown in the battle environment, not the campaign level environment. The upgrades are morale, accuracy, defense, etc.

The experience levers aren't "brozne, silver, gold" (they were never that way, you're confusing it with shield/armor upgrades which ETW doesn't have anyway). The experience markings go 1, 2, 3, 4 chevrons and then it adds some stars on top of the chevrons for experience over 4.

    In RTW armor/weapon upgrades were a separate icon. Experience was color-coded; 1 silver = 4 ranks, 3 silver = 6 ranks, 1 gold = 7 ranks, etc.

I could imagine a more "TW themed" forum but thank your lucky stars this place isn't like the official boards! Heavens are those ugly.

The chevrons and extra's definatly add moral and later on more fighting capabilities. Experienced units are fighting machines in my games!!!

It's called "morale" and the effects are:
    +2 accuracy
    +2 reload
    +1 attack
    +1 defense
    +0.5 morale
This means that you get (on the first chevron) stat increase except for morale which every other experience level.

Regarding experience, I established definitively that experience was kept when you retrained a unit in M2TW even from a single soldier. The common notion that a unit's experience is diluted by raw recruits wasn't true there.

And my impression so far is that it is the same case in ETW, although I'm not 100% sure yet. Anyone has the same or a different view of this?

Retraining dilutes experience in ETW. It's more noticeable when you suffer losses that are half the unit.
