I have an ATI 4850 512 mb ram and I have noticed that antialias doesn't work with 9.7 catalyst, do you agree?

I bought a 1Gb Sapphire HD4890 last month and I'm planning to get another one in crossfire. I was just wondering how well does empire utilize crossfire?

Does anyone with a crossfire setup have any idea how empire uses both cards?

Yes crossfire works in ETW if you use cat 9.6 drivers or earlier..

cat 9.7 breaks crossfire and Anti Aliasing support

I have 2 x 4870 in crossfire and get approx 80% scaling, however I get a crash once every 3 or so hours during the other factions turns.. with crossfire disabled I never crash.

Due to this 9.7 driver is this why the game looks like its running in medium - high instead of ultra which i could handle before beautifully?

9.7 is no good for ETW, much lower performance, no AA, no crossfire.

Go back to 9.6

Can somebody help me please?.My bloody monitor TURNS BLACK during battles and sometimes in campaign map.I can hear the battle but i cant see so i always have to reset the pc and start from the last save again and again and again.I am close to stop playing the game because of this.I have tried a lot of things(change settings,update the drivers even re-install the game)but nothing have given me a solution until now.I have to mention that the problem have started after the last official patch.Before that i was playing in ultra settings with no problems at all and now it crashes even in lower settings.(did the game become so heavy after the patch?)if somebody can imagine whats going on please help.my monitor is the LG FLATRON W2252TQ 22''(if has something to do with it) and my card is the ASUS EAH 4850(with the latest drivers installed).

Sounds like your card is overheating, try turning the fan up in Overdrive in CCC..

try something really high like 80% to test, if it fixes it try lowering the fan untill the sound isnt annoying anymore, probably somewhere between 50-70% should be cool enough and not too loud.

Go to control panel, click uninstall programs, then click on the ATi Catalyst install manager in the list. Follow the prompts and uninstall driver, reboot.

Download Catalyst 9.6 and install, reboot.

A quick question.

Are people using crossfire using 32-bit Windows O/S ?

From what I understand 32-bit can only address 3.5GB RAM, including video, sound card etc.

It's possible that crossfire (using 2 video cards) is eating up too much memory.
(Given that even those of us with 512MB RAM video cards eventually run out of memory, I presume crossfire would make that situation worse?)

I run Vista 32 and only get about 3.2GB usable RAM out of 4GB (with 2 x 4870 512mb in crossfire)

but 3GB RAM is plenty for this game.

Have you guys yet tested the new catalyst 9.8 drivers?

9.8 supposedly gives almost 50% increase for Far Cry 2 and increases performance of many other games. I just downloaded them and I'll test out how ETW runs with them. I hope this is as good as people say.
