    Default Fixed Artillery Glitch

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but its happened to me twice now, firstly when I was defending and secondly when I was attacking.

The first time, I was defending against two armies. The ally army included fixed artillery. Naturally, I beat back both, but after routing every single unit, the battle didn't end. I even sent units running about scouring the map in case the AI randomly hid units in the forest or something. I won by the clock running down.

The second time, I attacked. The ally consisted purely of 2 fixed artillery units. I beat back the enemy, but again the battle didn't end. Which brought me to the conclusion that it assumed the fixed artillery was still alive and therefore able to defend, even though it could never make it onto the field of play.

    Anyone else had that happen?

yes, this happened to me last night when my Prussian army was intercepted by 3 large Italian states armies. The final army consisted about 8 fixed artillery units , despite easily destroys the 2 first armies, i found the game hadn't finished, there was 3 enemy calvary units stood on the edge of the map, they weren't routing but i couldn't attack them (red cross came up over them). I fired my howitzers into there area to kill them. Then some more cavalry units started marching onto the map followed by foot artillery and infantry, but some of the units that started to turn up could not be targeted except by indirect area fire. My infantry units would only fight hand to hand with them and only if i moved them on top of them.

So there also seems to be a bug with prevents some units officially entering the battle and therefor unable to be attacked.

There is a bug (don't know if it's still around since patch as I haven't had since) that will have a unit set still just outside of map border. Had that once.

It's still there. And I believe it is when a reinforcing enemy army brings a fixed artillery to the fight. That artillery can't move, therefore can't enter the battlefield....therefore even with no enemies left the battle will not end.

Fixed artillery shouldn't even count as reinforcements, you can see them grayed out on the reinforcements tab prior to the start of the battle.

Have you tried time-limiting the battles? That could sort it out.

Yes. I set a 20 min. time limit. After routing both the main and reifircing army and scouring the entire battlefield for a hidden enemy (there was none) the time ran out. I suffered a 'Defeat'.
