Shadow of the Colossus

So apparently Sony entertainment has got the rights to the game and are going to make it into a movie. What do you think of that?

Here's what I think, if they stay to the roots and make it a movie about a guy and his horse fighting this massive monsters without any other characters besides the girl he's trying to save then it could be great. Find some beautiful locations to shoot and it could be beautiful film. But I think they will add a bunch of characters and over complicated a simple story and make it all stupid. I thought the game was great, didn't get a chance to finish it. In fact I only killeda bout three of the Colossi, but it was a really breath taking game. A movie good be awesome if it was done like the game, but we all know that's not going to happen.

1 guy. 1 Horse. Giant CGI monsters. 1 girl.

Sounds like a terrible script for a movie. There won't be any dialogue. Spare for guy talking to his horse?

Yeah, but I think it would be cool as far as huge beautiful scenery. Some movies have done a great job of massive expansive gorgeous scenes. I think it would be interesting, if set design was really cool and the way the guy explores this massive land and then is attacked by the Collosi or in some cases attacks them. For instance some won't attack unless provoked. So some can be seen as just defending themselves and maybe they could add flashbacks I guess. But dialogue doesn't make everything. It would certainly be unique.

i think i could like a movie with no dialogue, just pure visual stimulation; but they would have to make that visual stimulation awsomely entertaining.

But really, videogames don't translate well into movies unless you drastically change the plot.

I only see this really working well if Sony makes it either into a CG or animated film...I think it'll fail if made in live action.

They'll no doubt have to change a good bit...I'm sorry but you're gonna need more actors and dialouge for people to "get it" and be able to have some connection to the story...plus watching 2 hours of a guy run around on a horse for nearly the whole film, with no dialouge, and watching him kill 16 giant monsters one after the other would get boring REAL fast.
