    Default AUH Website & Features

We now have an AUH Website. You can see the website by following this link:

    http://www.all-under-heaven.com/

It is very bare, I haven't had the time to do anything with it besides a very basic setup. The website is produced using Concrete5 Website Building software, which has an easy to use interface(WYSIWYG), but also has extensibility that supports the usage of HTML, CSS, and other more advanced website functionality. If any of our devs have experience making websites in JS and CSS, you can contact me and I'll see about providing the necessary access with which to do so.

This website is intended to serve a number of functions. First, it is a public website, so like some other mods such as EB, RTR, etc. we can have information in website form available to fans of the mod. Second, it has private functionality for developers which is explained more below, that will help in the development of the mod in various ways.

There are 5 Permission Levels for the Website:

Guest - No membership. Can view.
Registered User - Member of the AUH Team. Can view.
Developers - Member of the AUH Team. Once a user has been determined to have a need to be considered under this header from contributions to the team, they will be added. Can view public and private areas.
Super Developers - Member of the AUH Team. Same as Developers, except can edit pages on the website.
Administrators - Leader of the AUH Team. Has access to the administrative panel of the website.

Now I will explain the other facets of the website.

    Joomla! Alternative

When creating the website, I was presented with two alternatives, Concrete5 and Joomla!. The former is a solid website builder with an easy interface, the latter is a full CMS with more complex functionality but that I am not personally familiar with. Rather than choose just one, we have both. Not much has been done with the Joomla! alternative web page, but it has been installed and is online.

The Joomla! CMS seems like a better choice then the Concrete5 in the long run, but until I can play around with it(or someone else can), we will be using the former. The alternative website can be viewed here:

    web2.all-under-heaven.com

If the Joomla! page at any point becomes the more prominent, transitioning to it should be a very simple process. At this time no links to it are provided besides here, since it is not fit for public consumption.

    Wiki

The AUH Wiki functions as an extended development environment and may in the future double as a public information hub. Account creation on the wiki is restricted, devs who expect to be using the wiki-extended developer environment please contact me to have an account created.

    http://www.all-under-heaven.com/auhwiki/Main_Page

    WordPress Blog

A WordPress installation will be set up for usage as a community portal. Devs will be able to blog information that can be viewed to the public about the development process. Strict restrictions apply to certain information disclosure. Guidelines for what should be said and what should not will be explicitly stated in this thread in the future, breach of which may result in demotion.

    blog.all-under-heaven.com

    Mailing List

DadaMail software has been installed to monitor a mailing list for AUH News. This mailing list will be accessible via HTML on the website home page, enabling users to easily subscribe to it. It will be used to provide updates concerning AUH, such as previews, releases, and other miscellaneous information. Schedule for updates is not set up, nor is what exactly they will entail. Any user interested in customizing the mailing list and what it includes is free to contact me.

The software can be viewed at the following link, an extension of it can be viewed on the main webpage.

    mail.all-under-heaven.com

    File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

FTP Accounts will be set up for some users to upload files to the server or update files on the server. Depending on the level of access, files might be added to a specific sub-directory where they can be viewed and approved before being added, or the user might have write access to the actual files.

Every user can have an FTP Account to the server, which will upload to http://www.all-under-heaven.com/users/YourUsername/ . We don't want random things up here. Use photobucket or imageshack primarily, and don't go uploading 300 MB files. Most users will probably have a file size cap, but if more space is needed they can PM me about the reason.

Some users will have FTP Access to the file directory. Currently this is only Yelu and myself.

    Additional Forums

We also have additional vBulletin forums, and vBulletin Project Tools, but I haven't decided what if anything I want to use these for, and some complications have arisen in the setup.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

You may use this thread to discuss the website and all its sub-software unless another thread is created that is more suited to discussion of a particular feature.

Don't make this mod your life's work Augustus, it almost seems like your putting that much devotion to it

The AUH Blog has now been set up. Any devs who would like an account on the blog should message me here or via PM. As for what is to go on the blog, there are no real guidelines besides that it is AUH-centric and does not disclose a great deal of non-previewed material.

    For instance:

"Currently working on Goryeo Spearman. Having some trouble with etc. etc. etc." = OKAY

"Look at this new picture of the Goryeo Spearman! And check out this new non-previewed scripting system in its entirety!" = NOT OKAY

    Pretty simple, eh?

Also, anyone who wants an FTP Account can now message me.

Just an update. I've confirmed the legitimacy of Bugzilla and Subversion on the server, but am having some trouble with the PERL Modules of the former, and am awaiting a response from Sim as to the latter. Hopefully they will be installed within the next couple of days. Wiki should be up today. The gallery software was weird, so might have to look into an alternative solution, uninstalled the one we had for now.

And as a notice to all members. The server is not to be used as a filedump. The host does not like the server being used for storage purposes, so please, unless it is a file format not accepted by some place like ImageShack, do not upload it. And even then, it has to be decidedly relevant to AUH. Also, don't put RAR files and things as enormous as the mod itself on there. It will be on there via Subversion for some users, but other users without subversion access will likely get their patches from offsite.

I'd put them on ImageShack, never had any problems with it so far. They seem to have good bandwidth transfer allowances.

    An update to this:

The AUH Wiki is now setup. Currently the wiki utilizes permissions which prevent guests from seeing its contents and restricting account creation, this should enable it to function as an extension of the development environment without risk of leaks. There are a number of things which a wiki does better than a forum, including but not limited to comprehensive revision history, collaborative editing, lists, and more extensive 'wikicode'(I've enabled raw HTML as well). The wiki should not replace these forums, but in terms of project management it should be used and linked to liberally for all manner of things which need tracking, division, and upkeep.

Something to keep in mind. When creating a wiki page, always preface it with the namespace Dev: so if I wanted to create a page for Imperial Crossbowmen I would call it Dev:Imperial_Crossbowmen. This doesn't have any direct effects right now, but in addition to the restrictions put in place there is also a namespace restriction on top of it which could be useful for a number of purposes in the future if that is made to be the new impasse, so it will save a lot of trouble if that ever becomes the case.

I'll create user accounts tomorrow probably using the e-mail addresses attached to TWC accounts.

Well what can I say, I hope its useful for the mod communication, to be used

I for one wouldn't know what I would add to it though in terms of building development.

In any way, I hope it helps others.

Wiki account has been setup. You should have received an e-mail to the account you have registered with TWC generating a random password for your account. The following people should have accounts:

    RobinCato
    Shadowcry
    Stefaneke
    Sud commander
    Toboe
    U have krabs
    Wundai
    Yelu Dashi

If you didn't get an e-mail, you probably signed up an invalid e-mail address for TWC or it went into your spam folder. First check your spam folder, if it isn't there than let me know. Anyone not in the above list who needs a wiki account please also let me know, I probably missed some people in trying to not send accounts to inactive members.

I'm going to set up a few pages there to give everyone an idea about its utility, centric to the team projects. Please follow the instructions on the main page and bookmark the page here(will only be able to see after log-in).
