How many of you actually get frequent CTDs?

Ive heard lots of complaints about CTDs, the amazon reviews are full of 1 star ratings because of them, but 2 of my friends have the game and neither of them get many. So i wanted to see what proportion of you actually get frequent CTDs. And does anyone know if there are any factors which make them more frequent? Certain pcs or w.e?

I get crashes about once every 2 campaigns, almost always during the AI turns, ususally I can fix it by finding out which faction is taking their turn when the game crashes, and initiating some diplomacy with them that makes them do something different.

A recent campaign with France (Imperial Splendor mod) is the only one I haven't been able to work around, every time I try to do diplomacy with the Pueblo Nation (when I click the "offer" button) the game crashes.

Prior to Patch 1, playing as Spain I got a CTD when the Pueblo Nation declared war on my ally New Spain, and I was asked whether to join my ally or abandon them. Either choice caused a CTD. When I loaded a turn or so prior to the crash, and declared war on the Pueblo myself to try to avoid that screen - CTD.

Interestingly, after Patch 1, when I loaded that same save game, the Pueblo did not declare war on New Spain and I sailed right through the turn.

Also: In another game playing as GB I was able to destroy the Huron without problem. But, the Iroquois seem to be causing my impassable CTD problem this time. Whole theater seems a bit bugged.

I had only 1 CTD.

I played as Prussia, and I captured Prague from Austria. Then they attacked me to get their city back, and in the battle map the AI did not respond. He did not do anything in the battle.
When I won the battle and returned to the campaign map, it crashed.

On occasion -- far less frequent after the patches, though they seemed to have added extra musket fire.

The state the game is in now is playable and functional enough for me to be happy waiting for some game fixes.

well,i had my first CTD just today,and this is my first campaign that i play with prussia,in year 1763,i made several saves just in case to prevent this problem,but it seems that all my saves are corrupted
i really hope that the next patch is going to fix this problem,we can't live in the fear that when we play a great campaign all the hours we spent in build our empire will be lost for a CTD

I used to get them a lot. Got to keeping five cyclical saves for my campaign, and if one of them bugged out I'd revert to the previous one and it would usually be fine for a while. These stopped after one of the reason patches, though, and I had a good two weeks without any.

Yesterday I got my first 'insufficient memory, terminating game' error in a battle, though.

really? i did the same,i made 3 different saves,but all the files are corrupted,how often do you save? and how many turns back did u start your campaign before the CTD?

really? i did the same,i made 3 different saves,but all the files are corrupted,how often do you save? and how many turns back did u start your campaign before the CTD?

I was saving every turn, initially, but I got complacent after a period with no CTDs which meant I once had to replay 10 turns' worth of stuff. I was annoyed then, let me tell you. As to how long it was taking for CTDs to appear... I once got one 19 turns into a campaign, but I found that they got far more frequent as the campaign went on. By turn 120 the game was almost becoming unplayable even with the cyclical saves.

I've played that much since the latest patch, though, and not got any CTDs at any point (other than the memory leak I mentioned there). So that's progress for me, at any rate.

After the patches, I have been getting CTDs and hang ups especially during sea battles.

I've had 1 so far in my campaign in about 150 turns, no idea how many hours of play.

I've not had a single CTD, ever. But I've not spent much time on the grand campaign, I mainly only do custom battles

Before the first patch, I used to get on average 2-4 CTD's per hour of play. So I stopped playing for a few weeks and waited for patches to arrive and it seems one of them has fixed the issue for me. I played through the first few years of a new campaign at the weekend and no CTD's yet (and I hope thats the end of them).

I get CTDs sometimes when the game is loading a land battle and when I select a navy or a certain ship of a navy (on the campaign map).

Seriously though, I do not remember any CTD's in GC, but I had quite a few in RTI -(
