    Thanks Mank!
It's not a question of where it grips it. It's a simple questions of weight ratios; a five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to do this using the in-game console.

Good news though, if you'd like to have more control over this for future games then you can pick up Withwnar's "Total Diplomacy" sub-mod, its a really fantastic addition which gives you the ability to maintain the game immersion through diplomacy.

Well, that's the thing--I use MOS, which includes Total Diplomacy, but the "force two factions to become allies" feature only works if the two factions aren't currently at war.

    Ah, very good.

Well then what I would do is "force" both the dwarves and eriador to be allies with you. This should temporarily nullify their war, and give you an opportunity to ally them. Not the most direct path to take, but I think it could work.

Also as a footnote, it's really best to post MOS specific questions like this in that mod's specific sub-forum. That way if other MOS players have the same problem it will be a little easier for them to find other people who have similar gameplay issues!

    Hope this helps!

That is the way to do it, yes. It is possible that they go back to war between the steps of 1) allying them to you and 2) to each other, if you have only one diplomat negotiating for each faction, so it might take a few goes.

The thing is, you can never be allies with two warring factions simultaneously - the option won't even be available. You can ally yourself only with one of them.

thats why i suggest making the dwarves vassals. then theyll be at peace with each other. Idk if you'll have to free them from vassalage before you can force them to ally with each other.

pwn the dwarves until they accept vasalage. that will start their war with eriador (if you allied with them)

Default Question to the Third age team.

Given how The Third age is awesome already, when and if you ever finish will you ever do another mod like this? seeing you lot do a Game of Thrones mod would be amazing.

You will not get a reply, at this moment so brings it over here, as the TATW crew is not currently active on TWC - and possibly not modding at all, we have not recived word from King Kong for over a year currently, even if he have been logged in a few times since.

That, the fact that a new mod requires at a minimum two years development if very fast and the fact that other teams already made good progress with alike mods* make it to 99% likley the TATW crew will not go on to anything such.

Is the mod still in development?

If so, are there plans to separate Lorien and Mirkwood elves? The new hobbit films have some heavy(ish) armor designs for the Mirkwood elves, they would make fine units for a separate Mirkwood faction. If these high-end designs are implemented for the unified Silvan elf faction, this could be a problem because they look as high tier as the heavy Sindar units so it might be better if they were separated.

Download MOS. Personally I dislike the Lorien/Silvan split.

What is a good opening strategy for gondor? I want to play a campaign, but I dont know how to approach it. I was thinking about taking E. Osgiliath, Cair Andros, and other rebel settlements such as Ithilien and the one in the west to gain more territory and establish control of the river. Is this a good idea? How do I deal with Mordor and Harad's stack spam?
Any answer or constructive critisism on my current plan would be appreciated.

indeed. take E. osgiliath and cair andros. mordor moves a bunch of smaller stacks into the space in between E. Osgiliath and minas morgal so take them out before they combine. at the same time however it would be a good idea to prepare a force to sail down and take Umbar as this will cripple harad.

Edit: here is a very good guide for gondor, and the other factions as well as general advice.

    some questions:

    - which factions exactly cannot recruit ships?
    - which factions exactly cannot recruit assassins?
    - squalor reduction: is it correct that all ancillaries which give reduction to squalor do not work, even if it is said so on the description? and what about traits with squalor reduction? do they work fine?

    Thanks

Good question about ships. I thought anyone holding a sea bordering settlement could, but then found sometimes i couldn't and couldn't build a port. Then i noted i could if there was a port already built. So perhaps its more of a question about who can build ports?

Default Re: Official 'Third Age 1.0 - 3.2 Question & Answer' Thread

None of the Orcish factions should be able to build ports. I'm not sure how that combines with 'exploiting' the fact that a port has already been built. Not sure about all the other factions.

Elves cannot recruit assassins. Not sure about all the other factions but I assume that all of the Mannish, Orcish and Dwarfish factions can recruit assassins.

The squalor mechanic definitely needs some cleaning up. The way it works now is that most traits and ancillaries that give -1 squalor actually give -0 squalor (useless), the traits and ancs that give -2 squalor give -1 squalor.
