How does the family tree work now? Not all of the family members are in the "family tree" but they still get children.
And if i adopt a general, does he become a member of the royal family or not?
There are no family trees beside the royal one in vanilla TATW, do you use any submods?
All generals at start do not have to belong to a family tree, neither the staring royal or a hidden, but if they are then they can marry and get children.
Yes, adopted general joins the starting royal family tree, least as long as it contain either Faction Leader or Faction Heir.

Doesn't Eriador have two family trees, one around Aragorn and one around Halbarad?
No.
Doubled checked and lolIsuck is actually correct.
Halbarad has a wife in a to Aragorn unrelated tree;
No other faction howeverCode:relative Aragorn, Adel, Araphor, Araval, Araglas, end relative Halbarad, Darla, end

Hi guys, I want to ask a few (maybe noobish) questions about the abilities in battle:
What are the positive and maybe negative effects of abilities such as: Shield Wall, Spear Wall and Fire Arrows?
Also do the commanders special abilities like Iron fist, which increase combat effectivness and lock the moral etc. just affect the generals bodyguard or also the surrounding units?
And how does armor piercing work? Does it ignore half the amount of armor or the entire amount?
And last, how are pikes supposed to be effective? there stats are quiet crappy.
I couldn't find any TATW specific thread that answers these questions![]()
For missile info such as fire, check here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=360020
The extensive ability tutorial (used by KK himself hehe) http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=472641
Affect is for all own or enemy units AFAIK, or in an AOE around the general possibly, see if tutorial can conclude
AP = enemy armour value degraded with -1 and then divided by 2
Pikes used correctly slay horses and keep unmounted infantry at bay so even if attack is low they can not come close enough to attack (hopefully, a troll breach trough for example and thats a world of pain)

thanks Ngugi for your fast answers!!!
the special abilities affect all allied or enemy troops as far as i understood the tutorial.
But i still don't know the advantages of spear and shield wall![]()
Spear and shield-wall increases the mass of the unit and locks their formation harder. This reduces push-back from charging trolls and cavalry (and contact with other infantry). It also, on average, makes a more dense contact line so that more units are in position to attack and inflict casualties on the enemy than regular formation (think about a loose formation unit fighting a close formation unit).
Shield wall I believe also adds shield defense +1? I'm not sure on this one.

Heroic or the level before enables "Man of the Hour"-adoptions yes. Assume it's a % chance the offer is given, presuambly also amount of generals/settlements (just as normal adoptions and children born decrese if you have as many generals as you have provinces) have impact on weither it is offered

Forlong has Axemen bodyguards for me.
Does Spear Wall actually increase soldier mass or is the mass in the EDU just higher for phalanx-capable units?
Is the garrison script spawning units when an AI faction besieges another AI faction in your game? It's supposed to, but it's not working for me and I'm trying to find out why (I modified the script).

How does "healing casualties" work? When my Eorling Militia fought against Heavy Axemen, none of them recovered (although they were killed almost to 20). And when my Dúnedain Rangers get killed by arrows, usually every one of them recover.
The first "deaths" of the battle are more likely to be reversed.
I was playing as the dwarfs and had most the northern settlements. I was wandering what is in the "arctic" of middle earth?
Besides Sauron's shack.
North of the Grey Mountains there is the Northern Wastes, which is unknown. The only hint, beside Forodwaith where an Innuit-like people live and that Dragons live up there, we have no clues. No geographical hints or anything else, beside we can logically conclude somewhere ice will take over hehe.
(while this map ends before the Iron Hills are depicted or further east, our knowledge remain the same)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I really am not sure where to ask this, I saw it before but I can't remember where now but if someone could redirect me to the quote or just answer right here, that'd be greatly appreciated; Do I have to rename the Third_Age_3 to some other campaign name for it to work? I can't remember exactly where i saw it but now I can't seem to find it. I probably looked over it several times now.
