As for quicker, double the speed for your battles. I usually do this.
Cav are already über in this game; five Gondorian generals with BG can rout any stack. You just need to use them right.
So in TATW 3.2, does the ability to repair osgiliath's walls ever appear? Are ballista towers in Osgiliath useless because the walls are never built? Thanks.
I wanna decrease the number of holding regions in victory conditions and i don't wanna miss any of TATW events so the question is ... in which turn the last event of TATW takes place ? Thanks
It's in descr_campaign_db.xml, you can open it with notepad++:
Changing the 120 to something higher should do the trick, I'd advice on keeping it below 150 as I don't know what would happen if you put it over 150, it could crash.Code:<family_tree> <max_age uint="150"/> <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="80"/> <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="50"/> <max_age_before_death uint="165"/> <max_age_of_child uint="10"/> <old_age uint="120"/> <age_of_manhood uint="16"/> <daughters_age_of_consent uint="16"/> <daughters_retirement_age uint="40"/> <age_difference_min int="-10"/> <age_difference_max int="30"/> <parent_to_child_min_age_diff uint="12"/> <min_adoption_age uint="16"/> <max_adoption_age uint="45"/> <max_age_for_conception uint="50"/> <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/> <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>
It's the "Last Stand" script in the campaign script at: C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
Here is an example for Gondor:

No, 120 is actually age 120. The max age in TATW is 150, so don't go over it as Lol said
ehm, so does this change the max age of generals?
I want to give them "the old look" (when they get portrait_old) at age 70 instead of age 50, if you follow me.
Do i understand correctly that by increasing the max age from 120 to lets say 150 it will automatically increase the "young era" of general or can it be manually edited when the portrait changes?
What things increase squalor? Is it just the generals? If I make them go away will the squalor lower down in time? Or is it the lack of inns?
Squalor was a killer for me in my only (half)successful campaign. I had no pop growth, so I took the generals out of settlements. But then the pop growth turned to red. LOL!

Umm, can you point me to the right post there which tells the squalor-thing? Incomitatus's guide is a biiiit large.
And now I have another question, which maybe should go to the modding workshop, but I don't want to make a whole new thread for a simple question like this. I am currently thinking about modding TATW, but since in that modding I wanna create a whole new faction, I can't be sure what happens if I leave the modding unfinished for a while and start playing TATW. Can I make a separate Third_Age_3 folder where I could do the modding, and have also a vanilla folder in which I could use to play. I'd also like that I could use the modding-folder sometimes to test how it works.
PS: I hope you understand that mumbling.

Squalor happens automatically as the population increases. You can change something in settlement_mechanics to reduce it. Sometimes generals get miserly traits which increase squalor.
They get the old portrait when they reach this age... What's the confusion?
<old_age uint="120"/>
Actually this age number has nothing to do when they get portrait_old, i have changed this number up and down and tested with several factions, this number doesnt seem to have any effect on the portraits. They all get old look at age 50. Meaning if they live till 120 or so they will have grey hair for most of their lives
Atleast in my vanilla TATW 3.2

The plot thickens. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
