    Default Changing Bodyguard Units

Just a couple of Qs? (I think I know the answer already, just want to check!) If I change English Bodyguard unit to Dismounted Feudal Knights, does this mean I have to recreate the unit, in the EDU, in order to make non-bodyguard dismounted feudal knights available to other faction owners?

And, if I do change bodyguard, will it affect other factions generals or can it be done through EDU ownership?

I know that it's possible to give different factions different bodyguards. So you can have the Dismounted Feudal Knight only as England's bodyguard.

I don't think you'd need a different EDU entry provided that the Dismounted Feudal Knight is listed after the Bodyguard for the other faction, as M2TW gives the first listed bodyguard to each faction.

It depends on what you mean. If by 'changing ownership' you mean specifically assigning Dism. Feudal Knights to a general at the start of the campaign, that's one thing. If you intend this unit to be given to all generals by default (by giving him the 'general_unit' attribute), that's another. If you give him the 'general_unit' attribute, that does make him available as bodyguard for generals, but only if it's the first unit with that attribute which the English can recruit. The game assigns the first unit with that attribute from all of the units available to that faction. And finally, if you decide to make it a general_unit, you don't have to create a second entry for it in the EDU as it will act just like a normal unit.

Do these rules also apply to rebels?

I've encountered an issue in a mod where a character from a destroyed faction has become a "ghost army" with no banner and no bodyguard unit. I didn't find any units in that mod's EDU that had the "general_unit" attribute and "slave" ownership.

Ok, cool, thanks SigniferOne. I want all English generals to have dismounted bodyguard. But also dismounted feudals as normal recruitable unit too. Its frustrating not being able to choose mounted or dismounted for generals!

    So as a double check:
I'll put dismounted feudals as 1st recruitable general unit for england only.
Then dismounted feudals as seperate entry with ownership for all as recruitable non bodyguard unit

1337, I guess you could do that, as long as you slightly rename the British version (since duplicates aren't allowed).

Yeah, will do. Probably go for something along the lines of Feudal Bodyguard. Only started modding a couple of days ago. Been itching to do it for a while though! Thanks for the help!
