    Icon5 Most epic win?

Hi peoples, my first topic ever, i hope this is a nice community blah blah blah, MOVING ON.
So what is your most epic win, mine has to be when i took out poland with hungary
i was attacking Kiev and seeming i had only 3 spearmen troops and my family member, the name escaped me. I waited for them to engage my spearmen, they all came out, 5 peasent troops and 2 heavy cavalry. i set my spearmen to schiltrom position and my general went into the city and went straight to the centre. the spearmen survived for 2 mins and 30 secs and killed their horsey family member person. i waited another 30 seconds and I WIN W00P. Soooo remember to comment back .

My most epic win was in SS V. 6.1 I was playing as England and i invaded Ireland I only started with 1080 troops Light swordsmen, maild knights, spearmen, and of course family member and longbow men. So i fought 3 major battles for Ireland. Then i cam to last Irish Castle i laid siege to it.. then next turn an irish army of 1000 men attacked me. So i was facing two Irish Armies with total of 1800 men and a good deal of heavy cavlary The battle was epic i thought i was going to lose i only started with 640 men. During the battle i wiped out all enemy units except for 5 members of enemy family unit and two whole units of galic archers i only had a hadful of men left maybe 50 total i attacked their general with mine and engeged their arches with my infantry... killed their general and all that was left was my 1 general i attacked the arches and they routed lol So one man changed the tide of battle

    Mine was with RTW,

I was the Seleucide Empire and one of my cities (Antioch) I was attacked by Pontus.

    Here was my army like:

3 units of Pikemen the the first one you get with the little round shield
2 units of basic Archers, the only archers you can recruit with this faction
    1 General

So I had a total of 300 men

    Pontus had:

    2 units of General units
    10 units of Spearmen
    6 units of light cavalery

So they had around 1 600 men total

In the end I have Lost 3 (men) Pikemen
    All of is army died

The road going in the city center had a big pilled of corpse in the middle of it

    Lol, good one

Mine was with RTW too, i was Carthago, and i took that one town in spain that Gaul had. They decided to take it back with a full stack lead by their faction leader who had 10 stars. Their army was full of skirmisher warband, spear warband and the odd swordmen. Anyway, they had like 2300 men. I had 800, some iberian infantry, those skirmishers and one unit of roundshield.

I ordered all my units to the townsquare, i knew i couldnt win it but oh well. So they breach my gate since they only built one ram. It was a big chaos when all those 2300 men tried to enter my town trough one small gap. But their general managed to get inside first and rushed my men before any of his men could follow. So i take him down, he actually was the first guy to die on his side . His army came, we battled a bit and suddenly his whole army started to rout. I chased them all down with my roundshields. I lost 150 guys, he lost 2250, take that gaul!!

OOOH! I got one: A seige battle playing the moors

Moors defense, France attack, at Toulouse: Citadel

    Moorish Units:
    1 General bodyguard
    3 Berber Spearmen
    2 Dismounted Arab cavalry
    2 Granadine Jinetes
    1 Arab cavalry
    1 Dessert cavalry

    French units:

    1 general bodyguard
    4 Scot Guard
    3 Vaulgier
    2 french mounted archers
    2 units of Armored sergeants.

The battle went like this, the French had 2 battering rams, ladders, and a siege tower, the siege tower and the ladders were controlled by the Scot guard. All the siege engines went into action and quickly landed on my walls/gate. and the mounted horsemen fired on my men surrounding the gate (I used a I_I formation in front of the gate of Berber spearmen) meanwhile the scots guards each unit men one of my dismounted Arab cavalry units at the wall, fighting in sued and i turned my attention to the fighting at the gate, I used me missile cavalry to pelt the attackers while my spearmen were on guard mode so they can reduce casualties and fight longer. Huge fight insued, I thoughy my line was gonna break twice so I kept sending in Cavalry in hopes to route the enemy, loss alot of casualty but saved my infantry from massacre (I had about 13 of one and 17 of the other Jinets left, 9 Arab cavalry, 7 dessert cavalry, and 12 bodyguards left) Eventually after losing 1 unit of Berber spearmen, and the other two had 20 men left and 34 men left. (surpsrisingly thanks to my routine horn blows they never routed)The main forces at the gate (all of them but the 2 units of Scot guards at the wall) were routing so i sent all of my cavalry after the remaining forces and i thought there job well done, I may only have about 100 men left but oh well, then I remember my dismounted arab cavalry on the walls, I thought, no sweat they were fighting against archers the archers probably routed, I look and I dont have 1 unit of Arab cavalry left, meanwhile each unit of Scot Guard only lost 5 men, So i sen me berber spearmen, the 54 of them after one unit because I thought they would be weak and route after seeing me run after them, but no they cut me down to 8 units and 13 units, So I was like CRAP!!!! NO WONDER THE STRENGTH BAR SAID IT WAS 75% CHANCE OF THEM WINNING! I made my cavalry do a U-turn and made my remaining spearman retreat from the walls. They retreated to the second level of the Citidal and I sent me spearmen to the third level and in the castle square. The Scot guards had in the mean time gone back gotten a battering ram and the ladders (didnt know you could get them off the wall or perhaps they had another unit of ladders i didnt see :S) So I was like crap! I got one shot at this and I had one shot to charge and make tem route and if they didnt there was no way my cavalry and infantry would be able to last if they start firing on me, or if they get on top of the wall. So as soon as they broke down the gate I rushed my 30 odd cavalry at the Scot Guard on the ram, then turn and rush after the ladder men putting up the latter,s i hit them just before they went up caused them to route and caused the original t route after.

    outcome:

    Heroic Victory

    Moors men remaining: 50 odd

    France men remaing: 8 ish

Here's mine...well, the latest, anyway. Byzantines vs. Venice, and it was still quite early in the campaign, so it was a win-or-die situation. We both had roughly the same number of men, but they had all those badass Italian militia, while I had to struggle with crappy byzantine early era roster So I thought that the smartest thing to do is to kill them off from a distance, thus bringing 6 archer units and 3 cavalry archer units. Apparently, I thought well Here's the result:

The poor bastards never reached my battle line, being forced to charge uphill and getting shot by my missile troops in the process. Recipe: archer spam plus high ground plus dumb AI equals royal pwnage

Vhard, btw. Not that it mattered, though And half of my losses were due to friendly fire, too...

lol archers are awesome! I use them all the time, Did Venice have any crossbowmen?

Do you execute prisoners often? Or do you not care about dread? I've found that releasing prisoners and occupying settlements increases chivalry and makes your faction leader better. Just a thought.

@Raidon: Luckily, no, only 6-7 units of peasant archers. These were mostly slaughtered in meele by my cavalry archers as they advanced towards my main army; they only managed to fire a valley or two (hence 14 men killed).
And yes, archers are awesome (even a bit owerpowered IMO), especially trebizond archers...without them, Byzantine campaign would be much more difficult.

So far most epic win in current champaign would be my sneaky vassal's French versus my raider force chasing after rebels.

I usually prepare well for fights and have matching force, hence under current difficulty i play (hard in Darth Mod?) it is challenging to actually get "heroic victory" - if forces met are similar, the best result is "Clear Victory". However i wasnt expecting these French dudues picking daisies in my backyard (not to mension they are allied an protected while being my vassals for 50 turns), and 4 mounted units totaling 130 riders (2 x Portuguese knights + feudal knight + general) were ambushed by 540 infantry, 300 of which were spearmen. I actually were preparing to sell lifes of these poor knights at highest price possible since even landscape (quite woody alpine) wern't cooperative for my army.

Yet there we were, semi circle of my knights on top of one of hills with approaching 2 echelons of angry spears. In first ranks French had 2 militia spearmen with feudal foot knights in the middle. Left flank spearmen started to charge my knights which were able to kite them far enough for second unit to tag them in the back with their pikes, third of militia died in first charge but i had to quickly back off since foot knights' charge were few moments away. At same time other 2 knghts of mine finished circling enemy force and 20 bodyguards charged poor peasants tailing french army, as soon as they routed i called back boyguards seeing them being chaised by armoured sergants (they were in the woods, static i presume, totaly hidden from me!) luckly my backup feudal knights just finished forming up and were able to hit them dead on from backside. Meanwhile on the other side of hill my portugueese knights got enough distance from trailing unmounted knights to strike back, which were executed perfectly in sandwitch maneur leading to slice of french footman between 2 sets of charging knghts... Oh boy these bodies went flyin left right and sideways - charge turned out to be perfect, and only 14 feudal kights (out of 60) actualy survived first strike, they run instanty, which was very lucky since spear militias were coming to fight then again, one damaged and one untouched unit. I was able to recall only half on knights there and second unit tangled in remains of foot knights started taking 100-ish spears head on as rest of riders on that side were coming around for their 3rd charge of the day. This fight turned out quite messy and i did suffer noticable casualties since i was distracted on other side, where another armoured sergant unit joined the hunt on my general. Luckly at that moment second French unmounted feudal knights turned their back to Portuguese mounted version of same unit, I promptly abused this situation... and slain their general by accident.
I was really not expecting this but that was the turn point, I realized while i lost only 15% French forces were halved, routing and quite dispersed across the battlefield. I chased some runnners and rundown these who chaised my forces, this was quite easy since at that point forces were quite mached.
This was a good fight which i am proud of, for nearly 200 turnes before i was winning battles on strategy layer rather than tactics - by not letting enemy to catch me off guard and always having adequate force to answer.

I utterly dislike releasing prisoners and occupying.
Worst case scenario for me is to do that...
I usually execute and exterminate... However, when times call for it, I sack and release (For better reputation), I'd much rather be feared than loved. Besides, I get thousands of adoption people with tons of chivalry, I stuff them in my cities and let them make the populace grow, the rest of my (fighting) generals are all-dread all the way.

I had an epic win on RTW when i were playing as julii and it got to the time in the campaign when all the other roman families would wage war against you i had against me the 1 brutii full stack 1 and half stack of scipii and 1 stack of SPQR against my nearly full stack.

Th natural thing was to just defend hold my ground and take out stranded units with my cav and pepper them with arrows. but the 4 armies didn't come at me all at once or else i would have been screwed. they came one by one this gave me chance to eliminate one before the next one catches up.

I managed to do this and my men were exhausted what were left of them and it went down to the last unit and i just about won haha.

there were about 6-7000 on the field. so the field were littered at the end with dead bodies haha.

    here this is mine one:

a simple pike on a hill strategy flanked with strong melee infantry. I didn't had any cavalry which is the main reason for the low relatively low casualties on enemy side. Nevertheless I see this as one of my most epic battles as I wouldn't have though to win this one.

    Default Re: Most epic win?

My best victory has to be my latest heroic victory.
    Mod: Stainless Steel 6.1
Factions: The Knights Templar (Me) vs. The Seljuk Turks assisted by the Egyptians (Forgot their SS name)
I have a screenshot, however I cannot post it for some odd reason, and I don't feel like trying, very tired and short on time:
    My men, total count: 1578.
Their men, total count: Turks - 1422, Egyptians - 2660.

The battle was hard and bloody... I sat atop a hill with my defensive formation consisting of the following units:
2 Bodyguards (And their generals, of course)
    2 Mounted Knights Templar
    4 Dismounted Knights Templar
4 Templar Sergeants (Or what's their name, forgot)
    6 Templar Crossbowmen
    1 Mounted Sergeants
    2 Catapults

I cannot say what their army consisted of because I didn't spy on them and kept a record, and I can only see my units in the full battle details XD

Anyways, the first wave came from the Turks, after our units engaged in combat, my archers opened fire at the Turkish general(s) and befallen their king, lying slain upon the battlefield, the king's corpse sent terror throughout the Turkish army, and soon, half of it routed, in a desperate act to save the battle, the other general charged forth, only to meet my retreating (purposely) line of heavy infantry and my steady line of spearmen, ready for his attack, he did not live long enough to see the land coming. The Turkish army routed and my cavalry (Which I kept hidden in a nearby forest) remained hidden, aside my generals who protected my archers from a flanking action by standing to their sides.
The second wave did not take long to come, however it was met by hundreds of arrows, and nearly three units were cut down by the immense rain, the second wave consisted of a gigantic Egyptian army, with four generals, and I soon targeted them with my crossbowmen, one general was slain and the other three suffered severe wounds and their bodyguard units cut down, their archers ran quickly and placed themselves below the hill, only to be met by smoldering flaming boulders from my catapults, which I saved for such an occasion, I kept them hidden behind the lines while the Turkish attack in order not to strike my own men... But the Egyptians had a lot of ground to cover...
Under the fire of my crossbowmen and catapults, the enemy raced to meet my forces without any fear, at that moment fear struck my heart, I knew that this would not be as easy as the Turks, however lady luck was on my side as a boulder from my catapults hit down the steep hill and destroyed many enemy soldiers, amongst them the leading general, however, the enemy did not falter! It refused to give in... I decided to lay the final blow, using the height advantage which I had I targeted the enemy remaining generals with my archers and catapults and sent my melee units to face them head on, as those raced to battle I sent my generals down both flanks to destroyed the flank units... The plan failed.
The enemy saw this happening and my prince was slain! The spearmen moved back and allowed him to enter the fray, and crushed him in a ball of fighting horses and men, steel clashing and horses falling, it was not long before his body struck the ground along with the rest of my bodyguard... However, his death did me good, as the flank was now breached, the unit I assigned to attack that flank was now free, as all 3 Egyptian units were dealing with the bodyguards! I sent my heavy infantry unit from the flank to attack the enemy from behind, and this worked perfectly, and at that time I ordered my cavalry to charge. I sent my light cavalry to stop the enemy generals from attacking head on, and the cannon fodder did its work.
My Templar Knights were sent deep into the fray behind enemy lines, and I saw the enemy lines getting crushed and destroyed like sweet butter... However, bittersweet luck struck as, as the enemy prince faced off with my own king in a battle for the flank of his army! The rest of my units were in a deadlock, the fight was evenly matched completely... And it was bloody...
As the two fought with their bodyguard unit, a flaming boulder arrived, missing my king by mere inches but slaying the enemy prince along with five of my own horsemen... It was bittersweet as no Saracen was worth the blood of a true warrior of the Templar Knights!... However this decided the battle. As now three out of four enemy generals slain, the entire Egyptian foe fled, and the remaining soldiers which I had chased them down...

    Result:
I lost 967 men. (Originally 1152 men, however some were healed).
The enemy has lost a total of 4283 men, of which 2304 were captured, and later executed.
    Heroic Victory!

I'm not sure it counts as an epic win but. Once as the Danes I was seiging London(the english made me, I mean they hit first), I was outnumbered two to one on the sally. But most of their army was a reinforcement army. So I rammed through the defenders to get into the city. Then just as I had finished off the defenders the reinforcements that had been delayed arrived. To some extreme luck I had all of the defenders fleeing before the reinforcements got onto the field and the victory was given to me XD. I was overjoyed it was great.

One other one was a sally I made against the Mongols as the Hungarians. (it wasn't truly a victory but). So it was my one stack (not full)(I had reinforcements under AI control so it sucked ass). against two full Mongol stacks. I made a small bunker outside of my walls. and the mongols rammed soldier after soldier into it, before i finally had to hide inside my walls I got to kill the mongol general along with his whole stack. Then I hid inside my walls and then my ally who finally appeared came and got himself killed along with one of my best generals. HE then LET THE ENEMY INTO MY WALLS so i retreated to the second walls and waited the battle out. My army was slaughtered but I killed a whole mongols horde i was happy XD.
