    Icon5 Roman Britones Roman Glory?

While playing the 463 AD camaign with RBs I noticed that Ludus Magna (great school) is not avaible to construct; while she's not critical on herself it makes the construction of consular highways needed to erect Roman Trumph (Roman Highway System) in Viriconium imposible. I don't know if it' a bug or Roman Britones are not suposed to construct this wonder?

    Hi Draco Borealis
you are correct..I'll have to make a patch. There are a few triggers for ancillaries I will put in with a few other corrections where needed. And please delete if you have one, a disaster file in the barbarian_invasion folder...463 Campaign. The correct one is in the base folder already..

    Thanks

I was just going to post about this.. As the Roman Britains I have taken Ravenna, Sossion, Tourani and Constaninople. Should I be able to build additional Roman military units? in the former Roman Capitals?
BTW, I have found it an esier go to play as the Roman Britains then the WRE. Best advice if your playing the Roman Britains, take Tourani early.

Love to see your map Lioneljoe

No other type of Roman troops are available to them...but maybe a good idea for the patch? I gave them British legionaries sap units for capital triumphs ..maybe turn them back to a Roman Culture too?

What diff level are you playing on? And Hows the money situation?

    Hi Rio,
As you can see, I'm not doing to bad! . It is M/M however. Economicaly I am doing very well. I usally start with 180,000-200,000 credits per turn. In fact, my most powerful weapon right now is bribes with my diplomats. I have used bribes to recruit generals from the WRE.
A few turns ago, I did get a victory message saying that "a new Roman Empire has been reborn." However, I was very disapointed that I could not build any Roman units in Ravenna, Constantinople or Sossions. I like the idea that this faction is not totally Roman. The Barbarian family pictures with Roman names is a nice touch. However, It would be cool to build some addtional Roman units in the old Roman captials. Also, is it possible that my faction leader can retain the Ceasar title. They seem to loose it after a generation. Any thoughts?

    Your kicking some arse

And it looks like a great battle w/u vs the Ostrogoths-Sassanids

Some Roman units in Italy or Constantinople is a good idea

Did Riothamus become a faction leader..and a strong one hehe

I really want to make it that the Franks, Otrogoths, Visigoths, Vandals and RB to use Roman buildings in Roman lands or some sort of hybrid barbarian Roman Building with their higher level tiers?

Hi Rio, that's sounds like an interesting idea although I do think that it would be fascinating to have the RB as uniquely Roman-Barbarian Faction culturally and militarily. Riothamus's rein as Caesar was the Golden Age of the Roman Britains. He oversaw the conquest of Gaul and the rebirth of the Roman Empire in the West.

Shouldn't the Roman Britons have Clinbarii or some type of cataphract cavalry?
I thought that Samartian auxilary were sent out to Roman Briton?
Or is that Hollywood jibberish that I failed to filter out seeping in?

Whats the difference between the two roman factions in Britain?

I noticed that great stone wall is not showing on tactical map neither; Developing the new Romano Brytonic/Galic culture ala one implemnted in Arturian TW mod with barbarian style new buildings but Roman screen pictures, interface anciliares and speaches and old Roman citywalls/roads/churches/public buildings woud be nice indeed. Without Saxon conquest of best lands in Britania sophisticated Brytons woud not turn into "wild Welsh". Reconquesting Saxon strongholds shud unlock higher tier romanesque structures and units. IRC until Vikings came the Breton Kings were mayor Power in northern Gaul/France and "small Britain" was quite good developed.

Ons faction, the Roman Britones is more pro Roman than the other faction, Roman British . As hinted in historical sources a civil war developed between these two, Ambrosius on the pro Roman side and Vortigern on the Romano British side. This most probably had to do with the failing policies that resulted in the Saxon advent in the mid 5th century. It was really not so black and white and there were possibly pro Roman type administrations such as the Dux in the Northern parts of the Island.

I use this Sarmatian type unit that I think best fits the Sarmatian cavalry in Britain as it evolved over several centuries(more into a body guard unit): Arthurian TW Definition:

    Marca Contwn,

The Romans, who occupied Britain before the Arthurian period, recruited soldiers from all over their empire. Part of the Roman garrison in Britain was from Sarmatia whose heavy cavalry was of a very high quality. Some historians theorize that Arthur and his knights were actually Sarmatian horse-warriors themselves. The naturally skilled horsemen of the Sarmatian steppes heavily influenced British cavalry, inspiring some soldiers to fight as an almost Carbon-copy of them. They had a long lance-like spear, the 'Contus', which, due to its length, meant they wore their shields on their backs. They were also wore heavy scale armour, and so were a very effective heavy shock cavalry.

Marca Contwn, 'Contus cavalry', heavy cavalry fighting with the sarmatian spear, the contus. Only recruitable in British lands.

-Yes Hadrians wall in some capacity would be awesome to add..I think this can be done
-Romano Brytonic/Galic culture can be a goal

I finaly managed to build the British Roman Glory but my king Rhiotmasus Ursus still don't have Rex Britanororum ancyliary; Considering how much I invested in erecting this building it's disapointing. BTW I edited the culture of Eastern Roaman Rebels (Roman Britones) back to Roman; The result is mixed; cities with hybrid Roman-Barbarian architecture (now they're truly unique) and Roman generals speaking germanic. Rio do you plan to use new beutifull portraits from IB II?

-The ancillary didn't trigger for Rex Britanororum? Not sure why but a few others aren't working..I need to figure this out

Sounds like I should make the Roman Britones culture Roman again

-Yes I do plan on using those awesome portraits too
