While editing I wonder what is the maximum number of men I can assign to a unit? The most I've seen is 250 from others, but what happens if I do something crazy like 500 or 1000? Besides my PC bogging to a crawl? Will the game crash at some point?

i believe that is that your looking for.
I was playing around with Native Americans and gave them like 300 men per unit for their standard infantry units. Yeah, it slowed my performance down a great deal, but it's what you can handle, I suppose. Setting them to 1000 wouldn't be a good idea.![]()
"Sometimes the best words are those left unsaid..."
There is no limit, during the demo someone posted a screenie of a unit of grenadiers. It had 9000 men.
It didnt, the frame rate was about 2 fps, so it was by no means playable, but it was proof that you COULD have that many men per unit.
So far, on my older rig, I've managed to play full stack armies with the multiplier set to 1.25 netting 200 men per line regiment.
At only +80 more men, it ran fine for me.
Currently set my campaign_multiplier to 1.5 in preferences.empire_script
and unit sizes for Line Infantry is 200...
So I got up to 300 sized Units in the game.![]()
I managed to run a battle with 100 000 (10x 10 000) men on medium... though with lots of lag and when I tried to change their formation it took so long that I ctrl alt deleted. I've got some screenshots of 50 000 men on ultra as well
bye bye hardcoded limits
I made a lot of music for RS II, and that is very awesome because RS II is a very awesome mod!
I'm playing with around 300 per lien infantry regiment... I'm considering turning everything to low and seeing how many troops i can get at a playable fps..
