theres also another one on youtube (documentary) called 'provos'.
Fascinating! I've only had time to watch but the first part, but I have every intention of watching the lot of them when I find the time. Mick truly is a great man, he was the one who pulled all the strings and got everybody working together, even Cathal Brugha, who more or less hated him.
"Ghlaoigh tú anuas ar an Toirneach, agus anois bain an Chuaifeach."
Ah, I'd hate to get into an argument with you, so I'll simply agree. It's not that it's biased that bothers me either, it's just the dialogue is so crazy and mingled at times that you have to really strain to hear it. The scene when the tans come and tell them all to strip, and then they take Mihéal away, for example, that was a damn hard time trying to hear anything since all the actors were yelling at once. It was a good movie though, I'll give it that, just had a bit of minor annoyances.

in a far worse situation; yes. but similar albeit the Irish one happened over a period of few centuries while ours was during the course of 60 years.
the difference being that till the Brits united the different kingdoms there was Never a single kingdom that ruled the entire island in Ceylon. there were at least 2..more often 3 or even 4.
The Ceylonese Tamils got the short end of the stick cos we were too successful for our own good(according to the Lankan politicians)...not to mention the fact that they could easily blame their inability to provide jobs for the majority masses by saying "The Tamils control all the professional jobs" blah blah blah...we did..but on the basis of merit. we never asked for nor did we utilize any special favors. But then again what else can you expect from a majority with a "minority complex"

Very good documentary! very well made too.
I have always been fascinated by the Irish struggle for independence. The Irish and the Ceylonese Tamils are in the same boat, so i can relate to this documentary

This is superb. I will be watching the rest as soon as I get done writing this huge ass paper.
Do you know if they sell this in DVD format? It would make a great gift for my pops.

It was only a short documentary on RTE. I will give you the info just in case.
Get Collins - The Intelligence War in Dublin.
Documentary on the secret Irish Republican Army assassination unit known as "The Squad" who were tasked solely with hunting down and executing British Intelligence Agents and members of the RIC's Special Branch.
Ya, were have had very similar histories. I am glad you liked the documentary.

I remember they were discussing the rarity of documentary evidence pre-Independence because of the burning of the Four Courts. It brought up the interesting question, how was the Records Office destroyed; the explosives used by the IRA while escaping, or the Free State artillery? No-one really knows and it was good to see it brought up.
The episode about the attacks on Protestants during the wars was also very good.
Search youtube for "The Patriot Game". That is the definitive documentary on Irish Republicanism.
a great drama based on the northen ireland conlifct was one showed by the bbc called 5 minutes of heaven, in my opion it was very good. but its nothing really to do with the ira, more with the two main indviduals .
