    Default Kingdoms DL through steam?

I'm sure I saw a topic about downloading Kingdoms through steam somewhere here..? Strange because as far as I know Empire is CA:s first attempt at joining the steam network (which is awesome from reasons like the one I have!).
The reason I ask is because my CD seems screwed. I get a message saying "cyclic redundancy check" when I try to install the Americas campaign. My CD isn't heavily scratched and doesn't have any finger prints on it or anything but it refuses to read it.... I've installed games with CD:s in way worse shape. It fails at the very first stage of the installation at the data.pack file.
Anyway I was able to install the 2nd patch, Britannia, Crusades and the Teutonic campaigns from the CD.
Is it possible that the patch and Americas are the only ones with files that can't be accessed?

Will I be able to install Stainless Steel and Third Age (when it comes) without the Americas mod or is it required to have them all?

Obviously I won't able to play if either one uses any models from the Americas campaign, but if not?

    One thing at a time.

If you download Kingdoms from Steam, you will have to also download Medieval2 from Steam. Any other combination will not work.

Before you get the cart before the horse, what other games do you have installed? Do you have any dvd/cd burning software installed? Do you have any emulation software installed?

Your symptoms say there is something this copy protection doesn't like. If you don't believe me use Google and the search function on this site and check it out yourself.

20 GB from the internet.... Not too tempting.

This is a new computer so thus far I have only installed World of Warcraft + TBC + WOTLK, Empire: TW and Medieval II + Teutonic + Crusades + Britannia.
I have DVD burner but I have never burned anything with it. Emulation.. Hmm not sure what you mean but if you mean like a Nintendo 64 emulation then no.

    Thanks for the answer!

Edit: oh and I do believe you

    New computer is a plus.

    WOW is not a problem.

As far as dvd burning software, some new computers have come preloaded with Nero and this copy protection doesn't like it.

From you info, it looks like you need a trip to the store for a new game. Unless you have a fast internet connection, in my opinion, don't even try to download it from Steam.

    Hear hear.
I guess I'll just wait and see if I can play the mods I want to, if not I'll go fetch a new kingdoms.

This computer didn't come with anything included. It's home built from parts so nobody touched it before me so to speak.

My next computer will be home built. I'm just feeding you the info I have garnered from these forums and my own experiences.

Gut reaction says it's a bad Kingdoms disc.

That's extremely annoying though. I did pay good honestly earned money for this game and CA screws me over like this.
I get more disappointed with them every day, this is no way for an established company to behave. They should look to Blizzard, they have amazing customer support.

I think the reason for the different attitude toward customer service is platform.
Blizzard is basically pc based with a big online play system. Sega's mentality is still console. How many consoles are multiplayer?
