    Default trading ports not working

i am playing as united provinces, started with 3 trade ports, so far i have gotten 2 other areas with trade ports, and it still says i only have 3 available (in trade section 0/3 trade ports available) there are no routes coming from the ports.. is there any way to fix this? is it just certain areas or certain nations? i never had this problem when i played as britain, although im not sure i had these areas i have also tried destroying and rebuilding the ports, didnt help

Your colonies probably don't have trading ports in them, or you don't have trade agreements

huh?? they are trading ports, and i cant get trade agreements because they arent detecting that i have the ports, even though they are clearly trade ports.

Only the trade ports in your home capital region can be used for naval trade agreements.

so the amount of trade ports you start with is the amount of trade ports you have through the ENTIRE game? i dont get how i kept getting into more and more trades with other areas throughout the game as britain as i took more areas over.. are you sure this isnt a bug? and if you are right, does this mean i should just build fishery or the docks instead of trade areas since they cant open up trades anyway?

Any port that has a land connection to your capital seems to work. As GB Glasgow was taking in a lot of trade, and sending it by road to London.

I dont understand the trade system completely. I dont think CA does either tho. If you have a trade port it should allow another trade agreement and route.

    its really pretty simple:

Trade ports in your home province count toward trading ports available for making trade agreements "from"....they increase in number as new coastal towns develop in your province.

In addition trade ports connected directly by road to your homeland province also count.

So in the UK you get additional route available through the scottish ports, but NOT the irish (as they are not connected directly by road).

The available number of routes for making trade agreement then also increase at certain levels of technology after you upgrade the indiviudal port - see the in-game information for more details.

You have to keep in mind, that other nations trade port might be full and cannot accept your trade request yet.

the trading port in the colonies is already used to send stuff back to your capital, that is why they don't count.
