Default Do you bother with trade?

It's decision time in my campaign, I'm established as Rome and beginning a "turtle" period od recovering financially from a war etc I notice ports/traders etc raise income by amounts between say 30 - 100, is it worth pursuing this tree for an unseen benefit? e.g. ancillaries etc

Trade grows exponentially. The more provinces you have trading, especially with ports, with more trading routes, the more money you'll get. Far better than farming.

Oh yeah. That's the reason the area that's now modern Greece gets ridiculously wealthy. If you get ports up and running, you'll rake it in.

If you want to make any money, trade is the way to go. Upgrade your roads and ports (especially in Greece and the eastern side of Italy) and you're set.

Western Italy also rocks if you control Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily. That triangle is what sent population through the roof when we were using the old grain resource.
