    Default Blue Screen failure

    Hey everyone, I have a problem. I just purchased empire total war and would really like to learn how to play it but whenever I click on the tutorial it loads about 75% of the way until a blue screen comes up and destroys my game. I have to press the power button on my computer to make it go away and when the computer starts to reboot it says that windows has just recovered from a serious error. Now I thought to myself, "Hey, I can just tinker around on the Grand Campaign and try to learn there!" Well I try this and then when the time comes around for a battle I try to fight it myself but the bluescreen destroys me again. Is there anyway around this? Can I fix this? Will I ever be able to play Empire again? With your help, I hope so...

    P.S. My computer is pretty new, has a ton of memory, and a pretty decent video card. Thanks

    You're going to need to get the stop code error number from the blue screen or from the Event Viewer if you have Windows set to reboot on a crash.

    Once you have that number (it will be in the format 0x00000000) you can Google it to try to find a solution to the issue you're having.

    Blue screen crashes are Windows errors and often are corrupted device drivers or defective hardware.

    They can also be a major pain and take a while to troubleshoot.

    I was getting BSOD's during every battle. Not sure which of these did the trick, but I got it working perfectly:
    - Install newest GeForce driver 182.5 (if you have an nvidia card)
    - Reinstall C++ Runtime 2005 and C++ Runtime 2008.

    Game's been running great ever since. I still experience the same bugs everyone else is, but now at least I know it's not ME, it's THEM.

    I was also getting tons of Windows crashes and blue screen errors that I eventually traced down to a defective graphics card. Oh well, I was thinking of getting something better anyway so I used this as a reason to convince the wifey I needed a new one.

    A visit to the Newegg website and a few days later I was back in business.

    I think my graphics card is pretty new though... its an ATI Radeon X1600.

    How do I install new drivers? Do I have to buy new hardware?
