In the demo you could mod so the the line infantry fired "mass fire". And in the db-files there are hints to this, but I'm unable to make it work.
Someone that could help me?
Thanks

Exactly what do you mean, "mass fire"?
mass fire in the release is a drill used by Light infantry when "Light infantry behavior" is on.
Well, if I'm not misstaken, mass fire in the demo made the first two ranks in a unit fire a deadly volley...
yes, that was in the demo. In the release it is quite different
You mean volley fire don't you?
So were stuck with rank fire then...?
There's an ability in the db tables called "Volley fire", as Vanquisher said. Perhaps it would be possible to tie this to a button. Not sure if that's what you meant.
"Volley fire" is what millitia and other low-trained units use ingame, and line infantry also uses it untill you research "rank fire". Just the front rank of a formation fires and rather uncohesive.
"Mass fire" in the demo made the two first ranks fire a timed volley all at once.
Aha! Just found it in the Abilities table, I'll see if there's a way to mod it back in
EDIT: Ok, I think I managed it, but I also think I know why it was cut...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
To say it's overpowered would a gross understatement.. although I can imagine it probably causes a hell of a lot of friendly fire on flat maps.

Could you explain how you did this please?
Sure thing. All I did was add mass_fire to all the units who had volley_fire in the unit_to_unit_abilities_junctions table. I was assuming that I'd have to add some sort of technology to enable it, but it just seemed to work first time. My guess is that because it was a "Late" battle, the units had all the technologies they could researched, and it overrides volley_fire, as seen in the unit_abilities_table. So yeah, it seems like all CA did to disable it is remove it from the unit_to_unit_abilities_junctions table.
I haven't exactly tested it extensively (just that one battle), so I don't know if there's any bugs.
There was a similar thing in M2TW. In the tutorial the Saxons did a spear wall, but there was no unit in-game that could do that.
You could mod it in and it worked pretty well, but if you tryed to put the testudo (which was there for whatever reason) in the game it would CTD. So as long as the animation is there then it will not CTD. Keep searching as there may be more formations they left out.
