Icon4 Breaking a Siege - Huge Help Please!

    Hi guys,

I have an army laying siege to one of my cities. Inside this city I have an army that I know could beat the attackers.

However, i can't get my army to attack the besiegers. I've tried right clicking, dragging the unit tiles, everything.

Is this some sort of bug? How do i fix it?

I only have 1 turn until my city surrenders which seems insane with a competent army there, i just can't use it!!

Definitely is a bug - try going back to last save and doing something different if possible -like diplomacy - request for peace - it really sucks had this prob in the Americas - but this solution fixed it and was good to go after - just a bug

Tip - save as much as you can

Damn, don't really have a save to go back to.

Is there any other way to get around it? I'd even go for some cheat codes, are there any console commands to insta gib armies or anything like that?

Off topic.... "insta gib" reminds me of the orange shock rifle in Unreal Tournament.... would be nice to "explode" an entire army in ETW when you click on "end deployment" though!

    Oh man... umm

Can't you attack the enemy and then autoresolve before you end your turn?

That's the problem, despite having a superior army sitting inside the city, i can't get them to attack the besiegers.

After a few turns, i just lose the city with no option to fight.

No because the city just automatically surrenders, and i lose my entire army.

That wont work with this bug because as soon as you select your army and hover over the seiging AI army - the cursor doesnt allow you to attack -

Can you please describe how you do this please mate?

    What i've tried.

Select my units, right click the enemy army - can't do that

Select my units, drag their unit tiles onto the enemy - can't do that

Driving me insane, this close to uninstalling the game.

I know it sucks but try declaring peace - its the only way if you dont have a save - that way as soon as they agree(if they agree) you can attack them again

Tried the peace thing mate, offered them all the gold i currently had. They rejected.

Are there any good ways other than that to get peace?

Offering them indefinate military access works almost every time, they really like that. Just give that to them, some gold, techs if you've got any that they don't already have, state gifts usually don't work with peace agreements if you try to offer them peace at once after giving them the gift, so just try to give them your money. If that doesn't work, try offering them a region, something small close to your other regions, then just recapture it within a turn or two.

Do you have it saved on the battle screen? Or do you still have a turn to move around? If you do, you can probably try something that involves diplomacy, try forming an alliance with a faction, anything that might alter the game, these things used to happen to me in MTW2 and diplomacy worked nearly everytime.

I selected the first unit card and shift+click the last unit card to select all the army in the city and right click on the enemy army (this includes militias in the city)

In my first attempt, I selected all units in the city excluding the militias but it didnt work so i tried including them and it works
