I want to make an all merc faction. But certain text files do not appear for me. Infact, the only thing that I can edit is descr_strat cuz thats all I can find...

well, it is not to bad, I run vista too. Just click on compatibility files once you are in the data folder and it should work.

You have 6 items in the data folder? Right click on the data folder and choose properties, it should tell you the size of the folder - what does it say?

it says 3.87 GB...

That's odd, I think it would be bigger if you had unpacked your files correctly.

Finding unpacked files when using Vista.
You will need to go to your control panel.
Switch it to "classic view".
Select "folder options".
Part of the way down on the "view" tab is an option to "show hidden files & folders".
This will allow you to view the files.
Now to find where Vista hid them (applies for all patches & unpacks).
mycomputer/users/(your account name)/appdata/local/virtualstore/Sega.

Find the two geography files after unpacking and delete or rename descr_geography_new.db and descr_geography_new.txt (this is important - if you don't do it, your game won't run)

This will give you a lot of extra information when using Vista.

okay, step one...

1.Go to your M2TW directory, and go into the tools folder, here you should find a folder called the unpacker

tools folder?

The unpacker is included in patch 1.2 - that was the reason why I was asking HOW you unpacked without it.

Thats the thing, I unpacked before after downloading 1.2 I guess. So maybe I wasnt realizing this and that was the problem. Now onto the next problem, cant figure out how to remake a factions unit roster...
