Am I the only one who misses the whole demanding/ generous thing in the diplomacy screen? Its all just guess work now, and it is hard to really "negotiate" when all you get are yes/no answers from the AI.

I miss it too. We three are like brothers.
I also miss it, Though I think this makes the diplomacy system a bit more interesting at the end of the day, As your always taking a risk when offering too much or too little.

Seriously, it was a nice feature to be missed in ETW, but not the only such.
I miss it too. In M2:TW you could know if you are close to a deal. Now we are just guessing in the dark.![]()

Counter offers would be nice.
In Civ you can ask for something and offer next to nothing, then the AI will give you a price to consider. If you really want a tech you can then just pay that out.
I think that this is one of the major flaws of the AI, in that there is no longer any bargaining. Back in Med2, the initial offer the AI would make was always higher than what there bottom price was, so you could haggle down. In ETW, they either ignore you now or offer you something totally unrelated (I once offered someone 1000 for a trade agreement, their counter offer was to offer to trade techs)
