It is just a Steam achievement for ETW in order for you to brag online about your deeds. Much like the achievement system in WOW.
A big part of the achievements is for multiplayer battles.

Its also very bugged. Unless it is 100 territories over all campaigns (which i doubt) I most certainly don't deserve it, and I conquered all of India and didnt get the Maharaja achievementOriginally Posted by Ummon

Yes it is quite bugged. Its showing me that I killed only 5 enemy generals,
but I killed much much more...

You can get to them on steam under the community tab, on the right of your profile (gameplay stats).
