    Icon9 Cant change desktop resolution.

    To the point,

This is how I've always installed video drivers and I have not had an issue until now.

    I uninstall my old drivers.

Then booted into safe mode and used Driver sweeper to clean up the remaining parts of the old drivers.

I then do a standard reboot and install the new drivers.

    Then another reboot.

    *This is the issue*

At this point my desk top is running at 800x600 with 16 bit color.
When I try to change it to 1680x1050, 32 bit color the screen flashes and I'm asked if I want to keep this new setting (The trouble is its still at 800x600 16 bit color) It does not matter if I click yes keep it, or no, it stays at 800x600.

Then when I uninstall these new drivers (182.50) back to my old ones, the same thing happens and I cant get past 800x600 res.

The only way I was able to get my old resolution back is to do a Sytem Restore to before ever trying to install the 182.50 drivers.

I have tried installing the beta 185.66 as well after a system restore and the same issue arises.

I did notice some strange things,

    1. When I boot into Safe Mode I have full 1680x1050 resolution. I thought it should be running on low res in safe mode, but I'm not sure.

    2. When I am in between drivers, after I uninstalled the old ones and rebooted into safe mode and ran driver sweeper. I then do a normal reboot to install the new drivers and it boots into 1680x1050. This is odd because at this point there should not be any drivers except the system driver.

I would very much appreciate some advice or help here.
I am not new to installing drivers. Ive been gaming since 1993.
But this one has me puzzled.
    Could I have a virus?
All scans come up clean except for the usual suspects...adware etc.

So at this time I am totally unable to upgrade video drivers.

    Thanks.
