Which country has the best National Anthem?

There are many National Anthems, mainly because there are many different countries. People like to boast about their anthems and it's something they might be proud of.

Personally, I think the best anthem is the Turkish one.

Germany's. No question about it. An anthem by Haydn - can you get any better?

As for nationalistic songs, definitely Jerusalem. That should be England's official national anthem, seeing as they don't have one. And shouldn't this be in the arts?

i really don't think most members here know more than the national anthems of two different countries...how they come up with the best one of the entire world is beyond my understanding.

I'd have to say that it would be either British or Russian one. But then again, I really haven't actually listened many of them more closely, outside some sport events and such.

Italian. Italian Anthem cross the millennia history of italica peninsula, from the victory of Scipio against Carthage, to the Sicilian Vespers etc etc..

Soviet (obviously, even for un-nationalistic reasons), followed very closely by Le Marseillaise.

The one of my own country (UK) is possibly the worst national anthem in the world. It sounds like a funeral dirge.

Isn't it! I'm British too, and I can't stand God Save the Queen. Annoying, hymn-like music and dreadful lyrics. Ugh.

Heh heh... I think this Casablanca scene is hilarious! Take that Nazis! They got it handed to them pretty well, with their Der Wacht Am Rhein getting drowned out by La Marsellais.

Russia by far, but i like Swedens for obivous reasons.

Soviets.....I'd die to be in the red square singing it with my comrades under heavy snow in front of red army along with red choir....GOD!!! it'd be awesome.
