i looked everywhere - how long can infantry units be

Sorry - I searched all over this forum and couldn't find anything close to what I was looking for.

I'm trying to find some info on the max length an infantry rank - as in how many men long can I make a line of battle? I'm trying to play around with larger units, around 450 guys, but I want that unit to be only two ranks deep. So I want units to be 225 menu wide.

Does anyone know where I can set this?

Also - is there a way to constrain formations? In other words, can I restrict certain units, or all if there's no way to selectively set this to some units but not others - to simply 2 ranks deep formation, or 4 man column (road column).

Ideas anyone?

OK - i tried what you suggested in the linked post - thank you for that. But, no dice. When the unit size is set to 450 in the battle space that line unit will not extend long enough so that all soldiers in the unit line up in two ranks (like an American Civil War era line of battle).

The most the maximum length of a line of battle will allow for with that unit size is 4 ranks, 3 full ranks and the 4th a partial in the rear of the formation.

Anyone know how to allow units to extend their line long enough that a unit of 450 can be ordered in just 2 ranks?

anyone figured out what stat dictates how long abreast a unit can be? still trying to figure out a way to get a large unit (400) to order itself into just 2 ranks.
