Artillery Crew Questions

Is it possible to give the artillery crew muskets? I know it may not be historically accurate but I'm just curious if it's possible? Or would they only be able to fire where the cannons are pointing because thats their 'firing arc'?

I've considered giving them pistols, but I haven't looked into it in depth. I'm not sure how the artillery crew works, whether there is a separate entry for them or not, they might come predefined, because as far as I know theyre all the same for diff nations and diff artillery types.

I think i've seen a unit id ref in there for the artillery. I will try giving them carbines and report back with what i find.
