Default My computer specs, please give a look

    Hello,

Initially, the game seemed to work fine, then the patches came and now things are amuck. I get crashes regularly. Empire is the only game I have or have had this problem with. Please note my system specs and let me know if you think the failing may be there:

    HP Pavillion
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU
    6300 @ 1.86 GHz
    1.87GHz, 200 GB of RAM
    Radeon x1950Pro

I hope that is the correct, or sufficient information. My knowledge of things computer is at best a patchwork.

    Thanks

Your computer should be able to play it decently, but make sure your video card drivers are up to date, as well as Windows updates.

Go here for the driver: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Select the appropriate options from the list and away you go.

The game has a lot of stuttering problems and lag issues all many Nvidia and ATI drivers. You could wait for a patch, or reinstall the game and disable the auto updates.

    Thank you for the help.

How does one disable the auto updates?

He means uninstall the game, then reinstall it, but turn off the option for ETW to install patches automatically, that way you can play the unpatched version without the crashes you started getting.

unplug your internet connection, uninstall the game, reinstall the game, open steam, click on my games, right click Empire: Total War, click properties, click update tab, change to not auto update.
