Default Any mods to make assimilation more difficult?

I have been playing Imperial Splendour, and I really like how angry the population of a city is after you first conquer it; you really need a lot of men to maintain order or risk a rebellion. 30 or so unrest from Resistance to foreign occupation really slows down campaign map blitzkrieg. I am playing Empire Realism now and am really missing this unrest. Anyone know of any standalone mods which increase resistance to foreign occupation? Or how to mod it?

I think you should have a look at Imperial Destroyer
it revolves around slowing down the game, less than half movement points, economy cut in a third, start with unrest, more unrest,
and there is a stand alone (i think) mod called disease mod or so on the first page, that add another layer of hurdles
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...r-project-v3-6

the strategic map is an art of beauty btw, my fave with the mod, and better yet much more factions !!
What i dont like about I.D is its too many units, with most of them having restriction to 1 or 2 units,
some tech are changed, and some diplomacy are disabled.

In sum i think vanilla, all patches, and most mods have something to contribute for various gameplay,
if i could have it all, i'd play patch 1.1 with some elements of I.D

Default Which of these 3 mod overhauls is the best and WHY ... ?

    1) DarthmoD

    2) Imperial Splendour

    3) A Proper Empire : Terra Incognita

Of these 3 which is the best overall and why do you think so OR is there another you use and why

I use DarthmoD right now and have tried the other 2 in the list but the tracers in IS and something about the sound quality in APE threw me off

I think you should install ETW in separate folders and then add/remove script under application data pending which mod you will play,
and on saves note i.e [UP summer 1710 DM] / [UP summer 1710 IS] / [UP summer 1710 APE]

from my experience, mods add some good and some bad, but either way this is a nice graphic mod that doesnt add anything bad,
just a pity i couldnt install it myself

All three of these take very different approaches to the game.

Darthmod: It is a catch all mod. It has a lot of bells and whistles and can choose what you want. It a "gamers" mod. It doesn't seek historical accuracy, but attempts to make the game more enjoyable to play.
Imperial Splendour: It has less bells and whistles (less options). It is also a overall mod like Darthmod. It focus is historical accuracy with gameplay enhancement.
A Proper Empire: TI: Is completely different. It changes the economy and adds the "manpower" issue in recruitment. It posses a different kind of challenge of managing your "empire."

I wouldn't say one is better than the other. They offer different gaming experiences. It depends on what you want in your game.

I am not sure it is fair they ad bad; Obviously some enhancement will change the game experience (e.g. diplomacy, you can either live with a stubborn AI or have a crazy AI that makes odd decisions- balancing it has proven not to be easy). The reason you are adding a mod to begin with is because you not completely happy with the game experience. Mod can deal with one or more of those things. It will either ignore one thing that you don't like or alter more than you like. There is no rule you have to use only one either. Experiment and try different options.

Default Wanted: a mod with more factions and/or regions

I'm wondering if there is any mod around with more factions in ETW ,
but with no other changes to game-play?

ed: campaign graphics changes is ok, since that can not be altered easily once more regions are added

Default Re: Which mods to get?

must admit that modding is not always a good thing, too much that can go wrong and always have bugs, either more or less, ofthen good ideas and things that are better than original version and things thar are worse, i always prefer the original after trying out mods and with empire i have tested darthmod, imperials splendour, yes they have good ideas but to many flaws and major issues for it to be an enjoyment like original, honestly, who here has not played vanilla longest? and usually start modding when they have played for a long, long time, you should play a game as the developers intended, because they are usually the best at what they do, not hobby modders

Normally I would agree, but with ETW the vanilla game has so many flaws that I consider it almost unplayable without at least a few mods.

I tried vanilla, i tried mods,
in the end what fits me best is editing vanilla myself to my liking.
I think mods have a very important function in giving ideas, i found it disturbing from the outset that armies could cross half of Europe in a single turn,
but i wouldnt have gotten the idea of editing, had i not read up on mods were at least one advertised lower movement points.
So i picked that mod, but found other features & tweaks, and/or lack of features, lacking as compared to vanilla, so i ended up as a self-modder.
The best mod that i know of is All factions unlocked No FoW, for the simple fact that nothing is altered beside unlocking all nations,
so its a splendid base to alter the game as i see fit.

    Hi!

I'm not sure this is the correct topic to find answer for my question but I'd like to ask that is it possible in the Vanilla ETW to make the higlanders and french hussar units playable in the Grand Campain? I have seen these units in the historical battles but in the Grand Campaign I know they are not playable...

    Thanks!

    Well, you could try AUM.
“No human race is superior; no religious faith is inferior. All collective judgments are wrong. Only racists make them” ― Elie Wiesel
"No nationality or race is preferred over another in any way in the Eyes of the Almighty" - Mufti Ismail Menk
“What's unnatural is homophobia. Homo sapiens is the only species in all of nature that responds with hate to homosexuality.” ― Alex Sanchez
“Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt
“Nationalism is an infantile thing. It is the measles of mankind.” ― Albert Einstein

I have been already thinking about it...but I was curious whether it is achievable by "home-made" or not. Then I think I accept your proposal and try out the AUM mod but I don't understand why these units are unplayable in the grand campaign even though they are existed in the game...not to mention that french hussar and the highlander regiments were pretty famous units.

    Thanks

I just did a french campaign and there was a hussar type of unit that you could just rename and overpower

After a battle spent peering through torrential rain, I tried adiuvat's Blue Skies Mod and recommend it.

I'll attempt to post a screen shot to show what the battle looked like - this was with the camera zoomed in close (without zooming in close, I could just about make out the flags through the rain, but I couldn't see the soldiers).

For comparison, here's a similar battle (in a different campaign) with the Blue Skies Mod running.

(It's not an ideal comparison, because I used a higher graphics setting in the second campaign, but it should give you the general idea.)

Hi, I'm a long time total war fan and am planning to soon dust off the old ETW and download the full set of DLC as its now quite reasonably priced on steam. Im looking for the latest mod to give me the 'Ultimate' empire total war experience using all DLC etc. I played a long campaign on darthmod some years back without DLC and was very happy but I have lost touch with the latest developments in recent years. Is Darth still King? What mod would you guys recommend? My last campaign was with Britain but this time I am thinking of trying with one of the native american nations or maybe one of the east indian nations although i may just end up sticking with good old blighty. Your assistance is much appreciated gentlemen.

It doesn't appear you want historical accuracy, so go with Darthmod again. There are other compilation mods you could try, but they all offer the same experience.

For more realistic battles and campaigns..... Empire Realism
More realistic units and game- play: Imperial Splendour & European Wars 2
For something outside of the 18th century; Colonialism 1600.
(Note: I never played the American Revolution or American Civil War mods)
