zoom in and if you holp your crusor a second or so over the unit card small window will pop up and show you what kind of a unit you have

I think i have run into computer limitation:
game become slower when i have conquered about 50 provinces on strategic screen when i select a unit until that unit "lit",
and the likelihood of game-crash increases.
Is there any mod about this ?

hey guys

I tried a search for "historical friendship" or grievance but nothing came up. so since I assume my idea has not been modded yet, this is my idea:

what I am referring to is the historical friendship or grievance diplomacy bonus you have with other factions in the beginning. the vanilla settings do not allow for many different courses of action. I would really like a mod that eliminates all the historical diplomacy bonuses and penalties from the game. I don't understand why that doesn't exist already. if it does, PLEASE point me in the right direction (also if it is another TW game, I would like that particular feature in any of them).

About 2 - 3 years ago, I played a great mod for Empires that I liked a lot. Now I just can't remember the name of the mod, and looking through mods here didn't help. The mod was pretty simple, and didn't change much about the game, which is what I like. It's main feature was that all factions were playable, even the minor ones, and also one could change number of turns per year. Apart from this, there wasn't much changes to the game itself, maybe just little things. Anyone please know what mod I was playing, or is there some very similar mod? Thanks

I think you might be talking about Empire: Total Factions or Minor Factions Revenge.

" unlock factions " only makes all playable, and is the only mod i use, so google " unlock factions ETW "

Hello all, I was looking forward to play ETW with a few minor mods that didn't radically change the base game (never occurred to me to look into the Mod Threads!). I started getting more ambitious, and started looking for mods that changed both the combat mechanics and the AI (the ghost that haunted the first releases still scare me, to be honest... I don't really trust vanilla). The only "mini" mod that seemed to offer that was "Balance of Power", but apparently it hasn't been updated for the latest patches, which explains why it crashes the game. I've tried looking for any other alternative, but there aren't any other (updated) combat overhauls within the first 5 pages of the most popular mod threads.

But then, all the major mods are "too ambitious" for my liking. Just looking at the descriptions and the +1Gig download file just make me discard that option. Is there any major mod that isn't that "major", that doesn't make a really big overhaul of the game, and only improves the "mechanical" parts of the game, such as combat and AI? I don't care much about graphics, or specific music, or extra features that make the game more challenging. My main concerns are the two elements I've mentioned. I'm downloading TROm to try it out, but I hope some of you guys can help me with some alternatives, be it "major" or "minor" mods.

Give Empire Realism a stab. Only ~40 megabyte download with great focus on mechanics over everything else.

Though you might want to read ER basic guides to get the hang of the basics, since it's bit confusing mod on hands-on approach.

Thanks! It seems I read the download size wrong the first time, I was sure it was a lot more... trying it now! I love the fact that it doesn't affect much of the core gameplay, it lets you choose your own selection of minimods. The only thing that really made me not download it was the lack of any tweaking to the AI, but hey, no-one can make it beat an actual human being accustomed to TW games.

Unless they are purely aesthetical mods, I would advice against combining other mods with ER unless you want very wonky results. Gameplay is quite different in ER than in vanilla ETW overall.

On safe note I do apologise for reading your earlier post somewhat incorrectly as far as gameplay core\mechanics go, but even with different gameplay approach I still would recommend giving it a shot if only because it's pretty small download.

I am a history buff who has been playing ETW since it came out and it has always bugged me that Dutch South Africa and Portuguese Brazil were never incorporated into the map as these were moderately important colonies. Are there any expanded maps with these places on them or expanded maps in general with historical accuracy as to who owned the lands? Also I say Minor Factions Revenge by itani86 and am intending to download it based on the newer small factions and access. Are there any other mods recommended for small factions? Thanks a lot guys.

P.S. How well do these mods work with Steam?

The short answer to that is no. The long answer is no, because the map can't be modded to any decent extent.

P.S. How well do these mods work with Steam?

Fine, especially considering that all legal versions of ETW require steam to work anyway
