Great advice right there. Check out Supreme Ruler if you like a more modern (2010 and 2020 respectively, although don't bother with 2010 since 2020 > 2010) version of EU.

Economic structure of ETW gets a daunt on growth once you finish all towns in a region's capital and population growth halts, forcing you to either seek further expansion or just sit there and accumulate money.

When you're expanding, you'll need money and lots of it, and when you're defending, you get way too much for your own good. And (what I consider to be) the middle ground of not expanding but also not living in peace will have you playing a couple of skirmishes with the enemy nation, eventually leading them up to become feeble and destitute.

That's why I second getting one of the grand strategy titles Paradox have if you want serious complexity.

    Default Mod question

I was wondering if there was any mod developed so that I wont lose the game if my capital is conquered? which would also mean I could "give away" my home region perhaps? Thanks.

You don't lose the game once your capitol is captured.

    Hi all

You don't lose the game once your capitol is captured.
Well, you do if that is the only region you currently control.
But as long as you own at least one region, you will not be eliminated. Having said that, no, you cannot 'give away' (i.e., via trade) your capital.

AFAIK you lose the game if you lose the last region in your home theatre.

*scratches head* I coulda sworn that even if you owned half the world, if your capital was taken you automatically lost....where the heck did I get that idea?

Maybe you were playing as the Dutch and had only one region?

Well the DMUC has various smaller mods for things like units and a better looking campain map. Plain ol DM is basically a barebones version.

And I think they are dropping support of the regular DM.

DMUC, but if you don't like the portraits etc you can just do what i've done and delete the 'custom' file. That way you have the portraits and flags of vanilla, but with the AI and other bonuses of DMUC
Cry God for Harry, England and Saint George!

And then watch as your game crashes and burns

I've downloaded both, but DMUC because of how much stuff is consolidated into DM.

    inb4princenuada.

They're both great mods. Can't you have both at the same time because IS doesn't overwrite any files? Prince Nuada could probably tell you.

    No you can't.

They are both good, although IS2 is smaller/easier/quicker to download and install.
Because I don't want to repeat myself, I recommend you go here.
