Hidden CD Bonus Tracks

Why do some CD albums have "hidden" bonus tracks? It really annoys me. It's not like the CD I bought is unique compared to anyone else's in the sense that it has an extra track. Simply place it as a track rather than sticking it onto the last track with 25 minutes of silence. Sometimes the track isn't even a song. It'll just be talking or random noises. It's not the end of the world, I know, but it's pointless and irritating.

It'd be cool if you had to actually find the hidden bonus tracks.

Like secret levels.

I hate hidden bonus tracks as well. They were cool when you had a record. But with a CD, no thanks. Can that ! Some of them are just like 3 minutes of humming speaker noise and then a short song. Screw that.
