I've been to a gay wedding before. It's just like a heterosexual wedding, but with added gayness.

Pity. Iowa is now a gay state........
(No offense to anyone who lives in Iowa, or anyone who is gay)

No state will ever be as GAY as Texas though
hey more tax dollars from all the "tourists" that will come here. Besides, gay people have just as much a right to be miserable as us straight folks....
Hey we have to be famous for something.
Besides, just another reason to leave this crappy country and move the family to France!![]()

Separation of church and state. America was not supposed to be a state that revolved around a church. Since marriages aren't often for monetary or political gain anymore, I don't think there's any reason it should continue regulating it. There's no point. Whatever is a private contractual agreement between two people is no one elses business. It'd certainly make divorces a lot cheaper. And states would no longer be able to discriminate against any kind of person wanting to get married. Hell, polygamy should be legal as well.

What does the Church have to do with marriage?
You need a state contract to give half your belonging to your partner without paying taxes over it.Since marriages aren't often for monetary or political gain anymore, I don't think there's any reason it should continue regulating it. Or to calculate income taxes over the combined income.
Those state contracts have always been called "marriage".
